The elusive “first burp”! According to Ayurveda, when you are about 70% full (see tip #3!), your stomach will release a small amount of air that feels like a subtle, little burp. It’s almost indiscernible, but if you’re practicing my previous tips, you’ll feel it. This is your body’s way of saying “Enough.” Then your job is to stop eating, put away the leftovers or let go of the rest of your meal so that your body can do its job of properly digesting and assimilating your meal. Have you experienced the subtle, “first burp”??? Let me know!

Ayurvedic wisdom AND modern science tell us that a “fast-mimicking” diet in the fall and spring dramatically reduces your risks of cancer and all-cause mortality. Here are a few things it can do for you:
-get you into a ketogenic (fat-burning) state without meat, dairy, soy or prolonged fasting;
reduce belly fat;
-reduce your biological age by up to 2.5 years;
-increase HGH (Human Growth Hormone) by up to 300%;
-regenerate stem cells;
-reduce insulin resistance;
-reduce liver fat;
-activate the immune system to kill old, potentially cancerous cells;
-lower risk of conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s;
-rejuvenate and strengthen organs, such as the kidneys and liver;
-increase skin hydration and elasticity.

My New Favorite Coconut Shrimp and Sweet Potato Sheet Pan Recipe!

(Adapted from Melissa Clark's recipe for NYTimes Cooking.)

- Preheat oven to 400*F.
- Chop 2 lbs of sweet potato/yam, into 1/4 - 1/2 inch cubes (skin on or off, as desired).
- Thaw 1 - 1.5 lbs of peeled and deveined Gulf or Wild-Caught Shrimp (you can find peeled, deveined Gulf Shrimp in the frozen seafood section at Whole Foods).
- Mix together in medium bowl: 1 cup full-fat, unsweetened coconut milk (I like Native "Simple" brand); zest of 1 lime; juice of one lime; white tops of one bunch of scallions, chopped (chop and save the green ends for later); 1/4 cup chopped cilantro; 1.5 tsp. sea or pink salt; 2 garlic cloves, grated or minced; 1 inch of peeled ginger, grated.
- Pour half of mixture into another medium bowl.
- Toss sweet potato cubes in half of mixture in one bowl.
- Toss thawed shrimp in other half of mixture in other bowl.
- Spread sweet potato mixture, along with sauce on a large sheet pan, lined with parchment paper. Drizzle with a few tablespoons of olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Roast for 30-40 minutes, until sweet potatoes can be easily pierced with a fork.
- Allow shrimp to marinate while sweet potato bakes.
- When sweet potatoes are done, take them out of oven, give them a gentle toss around, and preheat broiler. Spread shrimp and remaining marinade evenly over sweet potatoes. Place under broiler for 5-7 minutes, until shrimp are done/pink and sweet potatoes are a little browned.
- Sprinkle/toss with remaining, chopped, green ends of your scallion bunch, and serve with extra lime juice, if desired.
- I love to serve this over hot, jasmine, long grain, or basmati rice...YUM!

Enjoy! XO
