INNER THIGHS & THE PELVIC FLOOR RELATIONSHIP

Our inner thighs also play an important role in pelvic floor health, The inner thigh muscles attach from the pelvic bone to the femur, meaning the big thigh bone.

If there is tension in either the pelvic floor or the adductors (inner thighs) then it will affect the other group. In fact, some say that the inner thighs are a "super highway into your pelvic floor".

Currently there are several classes that specifically focus on the inner thighs as well as a hypertonic pelvic floor. Having openness and strength in both are very important. Remember, a tight muscle does not mean a strong muscle, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Tight muscles are often weak, short and overused.

One more point - think about this… if your inner thighs are tight, this will pull on your femur bone causing internal rotation which will put stress on not only the hips, but the knees and feet. Every single step you take will create more of a dysfunctional pattern.

Symptoms of Tight Inner Thighs:
- Buring in the groin or inner thighs
- Knee or foot pain
- Issues with the arches of the feet
- Clicking in your joints when walking
- Hip pain
- Pelvic Floor issues like urinary incontinence, hypertension or vagnismus (pain during intercourse/insertion of tampons, etc)
-
PSS – real quick, tight inner thighs can also be caused by weak outer glute muscles.
