This is Elizabeth Smith posting. As many of you know, I have chaired the PPC conference for about 10 years. Its an awesome event and so wonderful to connect, learn, and develop as professionals. I have been assigned to some significant projects and cannot chair right now. I would love to see the conference continue but in order for that to happen we need someone willing and able to oversee it happening. Please email elizabeth.smith@hsc.utah.edu if you would be willing to step up to the challenge of planning a conference.

Remember how the University is sponsoring the Maternal Infant Assessment and the Advanced Issues in Lactation courses? The first one is a pre requisite for non RN IBCLCs.

You can just take the Maternal Infant Assessment if you don't want both. FYI, I know the instructors for that one and you will be blown away with their knowledge. :)

To register you have to go through their website. Click on education and then courses to find the one you want. They will answer all the questions about the courses. I can answer questions about parking, food, and lodging if you need.

Both will be held at the hospital and I know parking is not the best and the rooms are on the older side but the info will be well worth it!

Through its Center for Breastfeeding, Healthy Children Project is the largest national provider of lactation management education for health care providers. More than 4,000 health providers, advocates and facilitators are educated annually through over 90 offerings across the United States.

I've gone ahead and let the Healthy Children's Project know that we want them to come November 28-30 for the M&I and again on December 3-7 2018 for the Advanced Lactation. This gives everyone a year to come up with funds. I will post information here and on the lactation groups I am part of. Please share to any other groups. Once we have confirmation and more infomation, registration information will be posted. The trainings will be held at the University Hospital. Most likely in the HSEB building.

I need a vote for the lactation training I'm bringing to Utah. November 28-30 for the prerquisite and December 3-7 for the advanced certificate (2018) or Feb 13-15 pre and Feb 18-22 advanced (2019)

See posts below for additional information such as cost and description

For all of you IBCLCs and CLCs, I recently posted that I was looking at bringing the Advanced Lactation Certification to Utah. I've finally had time to get back to it. If you are an RN IBCLC, you just need the Advanced Lactation 45 hr course to get the certificate. If you are a CLC or IBCLC, non RN, they do require the pre requisite of the Case Studies in Lactation Course which is 12 hours. So my plan is to schedule both. I will do the pre req a bit before maybe a week to three weeks then do the advanced class. As a host site, I can put people as part of my group. I am not scheduling until late 2018 or early to mid 2019. this is because of my baby friendly redesignation and the schedule for Healthy Children's. So start saving your pennies if you want to join us. And its going to look like I'm posting as PPC but this is Elizabeth from University of Utah Health

Looking to bring the Advanced Lactation Training from Health Children's to Utah. They are booked out pretty far so likely late 2018- early 2019. If you would be interested in attending, post a reply.

Letting you all know that we will not be holding a conference in 2018. This is due to some scheduling issues. Look for us in 2019. And sorry about that weird email that went out. It was an accident when the Constant Contacts account got put on suspension.

CE certificates will be emailed in the next couple of days. Watch for them!
