One in eight Utah women suffer from postpartum depression and are robbed of the joy they expect to feel after childbirth, according to Sen. Brian Zehnder, R-Holladay, who sponsors SCR11.

It is estimated that at least 1 in 8 Utah women suffers from postpartum depression.

Ever wonder what resources are available when a woman experiences mental health issues surrounding pregnancy? What's missing in Utah to ensure care and support is available and accessible? How can we reduce the stigma surrounding these issues? What resources does Utah need?

Exciting News! The Utah Women & Newborns Quality Collaborative (UWNQC) unanimously voted to establish this maternal mental health subcommittee. UWNQC is supported by the Utah Department of Health. Visit their website here: http://health.utah.gov/uwnqc/

The first meeting of the Maternal Mental Health subcommittee will be held this Thursday, April 19th from 8:00-9:30 AM. Join us here at the University of Utah College of Nursing, 3rd-floor conference room 3205 (or connect remotely!)
