Ignite Music Therapy, LLC is a privately owned music therapy practice that serves the Salt Lake City area. We are dedicated to helping others experience the impact music can have for people in all capacities. Music naturally elicits emotional responses that can be very powerful, reaching into our hearts at a deeper level. Do you ever listen to a song and it elicits emotions you didn’t know you had? Did a live performance give you goosebumps or bring an unexpected tear to your eye? It speaks to us in ways we don’t always understand, but it can ignite a passion inside us that is unmistaken in its strength. The name Ignite was inspired by the deep emotional connection we have to music, but also recognizing the physiological responses as well. One of the amazing things about music is the wide range of activity it stimulates in the brain. While interacting with music, all regions of the brain light up and are active. The combination of these two ideas, emotional and physiological, spark the dedication to Music Therapy as a healthcare profession; to provide cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and/or spiritual benefits for a wide range of people.

We’re so excited to announce two new Mommy & Me music therapy classes: Babes & Little Movers—designed to support you and your little one, no matter their stage of mobility.

These mid-morning groups are all about building connection—between you and your baby, and with other families navigating the same stage of life. Through music, we’ll explore early developmental skills, encourage social and communication growth, and create joyful shared experiences.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, but I wanted to give a huge shout out to Hale Theatre in Sandy Utah for providing phenomenal shows to our community! Last night I was able to enjoy their performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and to say I enjoyed it is an understatement! Thank you for a lovely evening!

We did it! As this school year comes to a close, with all of the final performances and fun activities, I am so proud of all of my students and families for pushing through this crazy year and creating beauty amidst it all! Thank you all so much and have an amazing (and well deserved🎉) summer break!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on social media so I thought it was time that I show you all how I’ve been able to continue doing music therapy sessions and music lessons!

I was definitely thrown a curve ball (I’m sure many of you can relate!) when I realized I would have to start doing sessions virtually. I was so sure that sessions wouldn’t go as well as they do in person as many of the techniques I use happen as a response to what my students are doing. After doing lots of research and “playing around” on zoom I learned that technology can be used for so many more things than I even realized!

Virtual sessions have helped me think more outside the box and I have been able to build my creativity through the use of technology to enhance the therapy my students are receiving!
