Do you & your partner want to improve your lifestyle? The Heart Lab is seeking adult couples living together who would like to improve their nutrition & increase their physical activity. Earn up to $495 per partner.

This study is being conducted by the HEART Lab in partnership with the University of Utah National Diabetes Prevention Program.

We want to learn more about partners working together to change their lifestyle. If you and your partner are eligible and interested in participating in the study, you will have an equal chance (like the flip of a coin) to be put in one of two programs. Both programs give information about preventing diabetes and are CDC-approved National DPP curricula:

Couple-based program: both partners attend 24 PreventT2 Together classes over the course of 12 months
Individual program: only partners at high risk for type 2 diabetes attend 24 PreventT2 classes over the course of 12 months
All participating couples will be asked to complete a series of assessments over the course of approximately 14 months. Each partner will be compensated up to $495 by direct deposit for completion of the assessments. There is no charge for the classes for study participants (valued at approximately $500)

We anticipate classes will start every 6 months, with the next class starting in Spring/Summer 2026, exact date to be determined.
