Granite High School Class of '66

I came across an obituary for Ted Gosdis who was born in 1948 and died on August 27, 2005. Do we already have this information? I remember him well. He was a fun person to know and I remember having a wonderful visit with him at one of our class reunions.

The Thatcher Effect.
This illusion highlights a flaw in how our brains work - we can't process an upside-down face because we are programmed to recognise faces the right way up.
We create a mental map by recognising the face in pieces - eyes, mouth, and nose.
So when we're presented with an upside-down, Thatcherised image, it's not processed properly.
We know it's upside down, but because we so rarely encounter upside-down faces, we haven't evolved to interpret the expressions on them.
The facial features look fine, so our brains assume the rest of the face is as well.
That's why we don't see anything out of the ordinary until we turn the face the ‘right way’ up.

Jim Criswell just let us know that Carol Streadbeck Mugleston died while snorkeling in Hawaii with family on 27 February 2023, due to a medical condition. Our deepest condolences to her friends and family.

One of the finest leaders I have ever known, Keith Bergstrom, who was Vice Principal of Granite High School when we attended, has passed away. He was a brilliant, kind, and caring leader and was responsible for many of the good things we enjoyed while we attended Granite.
