SHAUNTEA In 2009, I graduated from the University of Utah with my BFA in Modern Dance. After attaining my yoga certification I started my own business, SHAUNTEA, LLC.

SHAUNTEA offers various services promoting holistic health and wellness, some of which includes Birth & Postpartum Doula Services, Childbirth, Postpartum & Breastfeeding Education, Private and Group Somatic Movement sessions & Consultations. Through my degree I studied Bartenieff Fundamentals, Somatics, Feldenkrais Method, Kinesiology, Anatomy and Childhood Development. My college education provid

ed me with a unique knowledge of the body alongside important breathing and relaxation techniques. I studied in depth the important stages of childhood development, education and health. After college I taught in various public and private schools as well as non- profit organizations, working with children of all ages. I have been a certified Yoga Alliance yoga instructor since 2012 with a heavy focus on Meditation, Ayurveda Traditions, Anatomy, Alignment and Yoga Nidra. I currently teach group and private sessions to aid clients in stress management, relaxation and overall physical wellbeing. where I help educate clients through many facets of health and wellness. As a Doula I draw on my years of professional training, knowledge and experience to provide each client with emotional support, physical comfort and an evidence-based education throughout their pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period. I have and will continue to assist births in various settings, some of which include: home births, birth centers and hospitals. I lovingly support any and all versions of a family unit including surrogacy, adoption and the LGBT community. My goal as a Birth Doula is to help clients explore all the possibilities of a satisfying pregnancy and birthing experience. I present accurate information to ensure that you have the knowledge to make educated decisions as they arise through pregnancy and labor. I provide reassurance and a fresh perspective to you and your family in order to allow ALL members to feel supported and at ease. I make suggestions for labor progress, and assist in relaxation through soothing touch, positioning and other techniques of comfort. As a Postpartum Doula I strive to assist clients in growing their confidence as a new parent. I value being a support for families by providing as many useful tools and resources as possible. In postpartum care I help establish healthy, nourishing routines for families. As you embrace a new family member, I give continuous emotional support for the changes new parents and family members need (including pets). I provide relief of daily tasks to ensure this transitional time is spent acquainting yourself with your new child and the adjustments that come along with it. I am currently a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through the worldwide organization, DONA International.

A trend idea… letting your birth be so powerful & life changing it takes you to a deeper level of understanding about how you navigate the world. AND preparing in a way that isn’t outcome based (aka I want a unmedicated, low intervention birth, although that’s a okay desire to have) but rather I want to remain tethered to the experience so deeply I am willing to feel it all and do the work ahead of time that has me mentally & physically strong for anything that comes my way. That I will be so educated in myself & my options that anything that comes about I can navigate with fierce intention and power. What about that though…

A weekly class, on a Thursday evening, for those expecting, carrying or caring for kids. Yessss a weekly evening that’s routinely there for when you need it. A reset, a built in weekly YOU moment, a place to be curious about your own body & needs. A pause for when life feels big or unknown. A challenge to return over & over again to be guided inwards, to do the work of knowing self and the body. The rest falls away & sorts itself out without you. EXHALE, you don’t have to do it all. Parent with 3 littles at home? Yes let someone else take that bedtime. Expectant parent gearing up for labor? Yes build your tool belt of coping skills. It’s all here for the taking, every Thursday night 7:30-8:45pm with from . See you there, pay at the door, plenty of space for all.

Some sunshine. Some conversation. Some connection to other parents, caretakers & kids. No expectations, babies crawling on blankets, older kids running to go down the slide & finding pine cones. This is how we like to gather each week for Sunshine Crew 10:30-12 at Parleys Creek Pavilion. See you there ❤️🩷❤️

THIS WEEK we are back outside for our weekly meetup at this location until the end of October. We meet each week to build up a FREE support network of local parents while we talk and get in some much needed conversation. Depending on the group & how everyone is feeling we will visit at the playground (if group has older kids) and/or talk and get to know one another somewhere in the shade nearby. You can look for a sign with the Sunshine Crew logo at the pavilion with details on our whereabouts or text me at the number listed below. This is a safe circle for ALL expectant and postpartum parents. We welcome parents with kids of all ages as well as your new, or soon to be new babies. This isn’t considered a talk therapy group, rather a group to meet YOUR people. Our main goal through this meet up is to develop as parents in a supportive, fun community. I am excited for a new year of old and new faces, I can’t wait for you to be part of our funky crew !!!If you arrive later than 10:30AM, no biggie, just call 801-361-9785 and I’ll fill you in on where to go if we’ve moved away from the Parleys Creek Pavilion. We meet rain or shine :)

Yesterday was a tender one. One that reminded me WHY I found myself in this work and why I remain here. I had a text from a former client who just found out she is pregnant with baby 3. I took my little one the park with a friend and saw a past client with her two children that are 10 and 6. I was there for both births and reshaping of their family as it grew. Her kids played with mine. My little one learned how to climb up something new, with the lending hands of “the big kids”. We sat back and watched our children play together, proud of who we are as parents & how our children loved on one another even though they are strangers. She reminded me, as I thanked her children for being so kind to mine, that I supported their family in discovering what kind of parents they wanted to be. She said “you challenged us in our first meeting together to ask ourselves what was important when they see their kids grown.” Kindness was her word, and she’s done just that, raised kind children. I ran into a former client at my favorite coffee shop who beamed as we talked about her now 8 year old son, and what my own journey into parenthood has been like. Her friend joined in as we talked about the complexities of healing and how birth for all three of us different but that there is a communal bond as we raise our children together and how empowering that can feel. The mentioned the two of them met as one of them was navigating postpartum, grappling with a rather complicated birth, and as neighbors they supported her and became deep friends afterwards. I came home to check the mail and I found a mysterious poem in the mail from a former client. She had told the poet about me, the work i do and the births of her two children that I supported her family in, now almost one and the other four. This picture is what the poet sent me. When I got into birth-work, it was for strengthening community and supporting parents to navigate this process how they choose. And as I laid down, after numerous reminders yesterday, I feel like I remain true to my why. To connect us, as best we can, one small moment at a time.

SHAUNTEA’s Sunshine Crew was originally started in 2015 at Liberty Park. Since that time, SHAUNTEA has cultivated space every single week for local parents to gather. That’s a long time, dedicated to the cause of finding your people during this life phase, but is one of the first reasons I created my business. I wanted to be in and support my own local community. I have been determined to find many ways for people to find the support they need - whether that’s peer to peer free groups like sunshine crew, movement classes, birth work, education based learning, etc. This is one of our last weeks at before we move outdoors for the spring - fall season. If you haven’t joined before, know it’s low key. We gather to snack, talk, play, drink some coffee/tea, maybe make a new friend or two. Follow to learn more about Spring - fall meet up gatherings soon. I look forward to welcoming any new friends into our crew & will see y’all on Wednesdays 10:30-12 when your schedules align.
