Don’t devalue the moment because you haven’t arrived at the finish line!!
A couple days ago, I made a comment to my husband after spotting my front squat
“Ugh, I feel like I should be so much stronger than I am. I barely can do these”
He was amazing like always and tried to help me see how far I’ve come but that statement has been on my mind since then.
Fitness, like many other things in life, is all about the journey. There is always a chance to get stronger or develop better technique so the ‘finish line’ is always adjusting.
Since I can’t squat what weight I “think” I should be doing, doesn’t take away from all the other improvements I have made.
Because of working on those improvements, my weight on the bar is slowly increasing. (Ankle flexibility, hip mobility, lower depth, tighter core, etc).
This squat was a big moment for me and I need to remember to not devalue it just because I’m ‘not where I want to be’
What are you devaluing in your life because you haven’t reached what you feel is acceptable?
How can you appreciate the moment and all the moments leading up to now?
