When Independence Goes Viral… Voice at Every Age

You may have seen a recent video circulating online of several residents from Legacy Village of Sugar House walking together from our community to peacefully protest. The footage—originally taken by one resident’s daughter—was edited and shared in ways that suggest misinformation and even harmful accusations of elder mistreatment.

Let us be clear:
These are Independent Living residents who coordinated their own outing, voiced their personal beliefs, and exercised their rights—just like any American has the freedom to do.

Legacy Village of Sugar House, and our parent company Legacy Retirement Communities, fully complies with all local, state, and federal laws and will continue to do so. While we remain neutral as an organization, we respect the independence of our residents and their freedom to peacefully participate in civic engagement.

We are proud to support vibrant, engaged older adults who continue to live with purpose, conviction, and community. This is a story of autonomy, no matter your age.
