We are saddened by the death of medical pioneer and global faith leader Russell M. Nelson.

Nelson passed away on Saturday. At the time of his death, he was serving as the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the oldest leader in the institution’s history. A recognized trailblazer in heart surgery, Nelson was an alum of the U and led the school’s cardiothoracic program for nearly 20 years.

“President Nelson’s remarkable journey, from U alum to pioneering heart surgeon to global faith leader, reflects a life of innovation, compassion, and devotion. His influence and discipleship are woven into the history of our university, the lives of many of our students, and people across the globe.”

This season, UtahPresents, the Resiliency Center, and the Center for Health Ethics, Arts, and Humanities will present an evening of storytelling with the eighth installment of Healthcare Stories at Kingsbury Hall.

This year’s theme is “Together.” Together is the way that we get things done. The spoken and unspoken ways that we depend on each other. This year’s healthcare stories might be about taking on complex challenges as a community, the ripples that spread from a single conversation or event to create waves, seeing the good in each other when we can’t see it in ourselves, or how we witness and celebrate defining moments of what it means to be human.

A call for stories is active now. Clinicians, patients, family members, staff, faculty and students are encouraged to submit their stories reflecting on the theme “Together” in the context of health and healthcare. https://bit.ly/4nlJCZi

Ticks can carry serious illnesses like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. These tiny pests thrive in grassy, wooded, and brushy areas—and even your backyard.

✅ Protect yourself:
Wear long sleeves and pants
Use EPA-approved repellents
Do daily tick checks—especially behind ears, knees, and scalp
Shower after outdoor activities
Treat pets with vet-approved tick prevention
If you find a tick, remove it promptly and watch for symptoms like fever, rash, or fatigue.

Stay tick-aware and enjoy the outdoors safely!

🔥 Hot oil burns can happen in seconds—and they hurt for days. Whether you're frying, sautéing, or deep-frying, cooking with oil poses serious burn risks. Splattering oil can cause painful scalds, often requiring medical attention.

✅ Use a splatter guard
✅ Never leave hot oil unattended
✅ Wear long sleeves and oven mitts
✅ Cool burns with cool (not cold) water—never use ice or butter

Stay safe in the kitchen. Prevention is the best protection.
