Volunteers of America, Utah Providing paths for vulnerable Utahns to improve their lives and increase self-reliance

🌟 Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month! 🌟

We’re kicking off April with a huge thank you to the many incredible volunteers who fuel our mission every single day. Your time, your heart, and your dedication make all the difference, and our work simply wouldn’t be possible without you.

Here’s to you, our community. Together, we are Volunteers of America, Utah!

In 1986, Volunteers of America, Utah opened on Brooklyn Avenue in downtown Salt Lake City with a single program for men in recovery. Forty years later, we are honoring a legacy of walking alongside our neighbors through life’s toughest moments.

What began as one program has grown into eight facilities providing treatment, outreach, and essential services for those facing mental health challenges, addiction, and homelessness. Grounded in compassion, we continue to build pathways for people in need.

Thank you to the VOA Utah staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, past and present, for working alongside us. Together, we are shaping a future where everyone has a safe place to call home and the opportunity to rebuild with dignity and hope.

Expanding to meet demand, VOA Utah’s Center for Women & Children is moving to Redwood Road

Next week, we’re relocating our women’s detoxification program from Murray to our Recovery on Redwood facility at 1875 S Redwood Road. This move expands our capacity to serve more mothers and families and makes recovery services more accessible by increasing proximity to our Cornerstone Counseling Center’s behavioral health services and major bus lines, which significantly reduces barriers to accessing our facility.

What stays the same? The heart of our program.

Women can safely withdraw from addictive substances while keeping their children, aged 10 and younger, with them, with access to three warm meals, peer support, recovery groups, and dedicated case managers who work side by side to ensure there is a sustainable path to recovery beyond detoxification.

To support women and children on their recovery journey, visit voaut.org or tap the link in our bio to volunteer your time or make a monetary donation.

We appreciated the opportunity to join KSL again and share how our multidisciplinary teams at VOA Utah remove barriers, meet people where they are, and provide wraparound care for those who need it most across Utah.

Right now, every gift is matched through December 31, helping us reach even more neighbors in need.

Give through the link in our bio or donate at voaut.org.

Our Season of Giving continues with a $100,000 matching gift from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation.

Now through December 31, every donation to VOA Utah is doubled, helping support individuals and families facing mental health challenges, addiction, and homelessness.

Make your gift count twice.

We’re grateful to Fox 13 for shining a light on the Youth Resource Center and the care, resources, and support offered to unsheltered youth.
Last year, we were able to support more than 400 young people through this program. Right now, your support can help us reach even more, with all donations doubled through December 31.

When we stand together, young people are seen, supported, and reminded they belong.

Candy Cane Corner 2025 was a beautiful success, made possible by the power of community. Because of your generosity, over 1,800 individuals experienced moments of joy, dignity, and care this holiday season.
We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, donor, and partner who took action to make an impact, with special thanks to the incredible sponsorship and team at Les Schwab for going above and beyond. Thank you to Fox 13, Finwise Bank, Swire Coca-Cola, Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, and The Road Home for standing with us and supporting Utahns in need.
When we come together, we create something bigger than any one of us. This is what spreading joy looks like.
