two days ago according to the Fox News, The United States, working with allied partners, has carried out new military strikes against Islamic State (ISIS) positions in Syria, intensifying operations against the extremist group one month after an attack that killed American service members.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the operation on Saturday, describing it as a deliberate effort to neutralize militants connected to the earlier assault on U.S. forces. In a statement shared on X, the command issued a stark warning to hostile actors, vowing that those who target American troops will be hunted down wherever they operate and held to account.
According to defense officials, the strikes hit multiple ISIS-linked sites in areas where the group is known to maintain covert networks. These locations reportedly included arms caches, coordination points, and supply routes used to plan and support attacks.
While a full assessment of the damage is still underway, U.S. officials said the objective was to dismantle operational cells and reduce the group’s ability to threaten coalition forces. The action reflects continuing concern within Washington about ISIS’s persistence despite its loss of territorial control in 2019.
Although the group no longer governs large swathes of land, it has sustained a campaign of insurgent-style violence across parts of Syria, exploiting security vacuums created by years of conflict and political fragmentation.
Pentagon sources emphasized that the mission was conducted with precision, with strict measures in place to minimize civilian casualties and avoid unnecessary escalation. Coalition partners took part in the operation, though their identities were not disclosed for security reasons.
