Upstream Family PT Story: I found a career that moves me.

For many physical therapists, travel isn’t just a job — it’s a way to explore, grow, and build the life they want.

“My opportunity to travel with Upstream as part of the internal travel program has been nothing short of an amazing adventure. If I would have told myself in PT school that I would have been able to live in and experience eight different states and live in over 15 different locations in under five years, I wouldn’t have believed it. ”
- James R., PT, DPT

With Journey by Upstream Rehabilitation, travel therapists have the freedom to move — with the support, structure, and transparency to make each stop count.

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 is how powerful daily stretching can be for your body and mind. Just a few minutes a day can boost your flexibility, improve range of motion, reduce stress, and even help your posture.

Consistency is key — move better, feel better, live better.

Feeling that afternoon slump? That dip in energy and focus IS real. While a quick caffeine fix might be tempting, it's not always the best solution.

Try these healthier ways to stay energized and focused through the afternoon:

• Drink plenty of water
• Take short movement or stretch breaks every 30–60 minutes
• Improve posture and switch between sitting and standing
• Snack smart with protein-rich or fiber-filled foods
• Play upbeat music to boost your mood
• Change your scenery or lighting for a quick mental refresh

If you're dealing with chronic fatigue or pain that's making it worse, physical therapy can help address the root cause and get you feeling better, naturally. No energy drinks required!

Our team wants you to enjoy the holiday and avoid unnecessary aches, strains, or injuries. Here are a few tips to keep your body feeling great this Independence Day:

🔹 Warm Up Before Backyard Games
Before diving into co****le, volleyball, or pickleball, take 5–10 minutes to stretch and warm up your muscles. Dynamic warm-ups like arm circles, leg swings, and walking lunges can go a long way in preventing injury.
🔹 Lift Smart, Not Hard
Setting up chairs, grills, or coolers? Use your legs to lift, not your back. Keep the object close to your body, and avoid twisting while carrying heavier items.
🔹 Hydrate Often
Hot weather and outdoor activities can cause you to dehydrate quickly. Drink water consistently throughout the day, especially if you're active. Dehydration can lead to muscle cramps and fatigue.
🔹 Watch Your Step
Uneven yards, soft grass, or poolside areas can be a hazard. Wear supportive shoes and watch for tripping hazards to avoid sprains or falls.
🔹 Pace Yourself
Long days in the sun can take a toll on you. Don't push through pain or fatigue—take breaks, find shade, and listen to your body.

Stay safe in the summer heat! Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and take regular breaks if you are exposed to high temperatures. Heat exhaustion can come on fast, so watch for these signs:
🔹 Heavy sweating
🔹 Pale or cool, moist skin
🔹 Muscle cramps or weakness
🔹 Fatigue, dizziness, nausea, or fainting
🔹 Fast, shallow breathing and rapid heartbeat

💧 Pro tip: Don’t wait until you're thirsty — drink water 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆, 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 being in the heat.
