Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) is proud to announce the addition of Bambi Evans, FNP-BC, to the medical team at the Tazewell Community Health Center and New Day Recovery Tazewell.

Evans joined SVCHS in 2025, bringing over 26 years of comprehensive experience in nursing and healthcare. She began her nursing career in 1999 upon earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential from the William N. Neff Center. Throughout her career, she has developed a broad clinical expertise spanning pediatrics, maternal-child health, podiatry, public health, and case management. Committed to advancing her nursing practice and education, Evans earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Virginia Highlands Community College in 2018, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from King University in 2019 and most recently, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University in 2025.

🌟 Provider Spotlight 🌟

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems is excited to welcome Bambi Evans, FNP-BC, to our team at the Tazewell Community Health Center and New Day Recovery Tazewell!

Bambi brings with her 26 years of medical experience, with a background in pediatrics, maternal-child health, podiatry, public health, and case management. She began her nursing career in 1999 and has continued to advance her education, most recently completing her Master of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University in 2025.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC Board Certified), Bambi is passionate about providing compassionate, quality care—especially to those in underserved communities. 💉❤️

✨ Her favorite part of being a provider: “Making sure patients feel heard, cared for, and confident in their health journey.”

Outside of work, Bambi enjoys spending time with her family, boating, running, yoga, and being active with her church family.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Dr. Brandon Blevins, OD 🌟

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems is proud to highlight Dr. Brandon Blevins, OD, who has been serving our community since 2014 at our Saltville site.

👨‍⚕️ Background & Education
Dr. Blevins earned his B.S. in Biology from Emory & Henry College before completing his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry.

💡 Why Optometry?
Having had poor vision since childhood, Dr. Blevins was inspired by his own experiences and the care he received from an optometrist. This personal connection motivated him to pursue a career helping others improve their sight.

🏌️ Outside of Work
When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Blevins enjoys golf, spending time with family, and outdoor activities.

“The best part of being a medical provider is being able to help people improve their quality of life through better sight.”

📍 Service Site: Tazewell Community Health Center in Tazewell, VA

Rachael Myers has been part of the SVCHS team since 2020 and brings 5 years of experience in the medical field.

She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and has worked across various aspects of behavioral health. Her passion for the field stems from a desire to reach communities in need and provide hope and healing.

Rachael specializes in individual and group therapy with children and adults, helping patients through every stage of growth and healing.

“Watching my patients grow and achieve their goals.”

Outside of work, Rachael enjoys being a mom, reading, and practicing self-care.
