🌟 Provider Spotlight: Kimberly Harding, MSN, FNP-C 🌟

We’re excited to highlight Kimberly Harding, MSN, FNP-C, an ANCC-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who brings a wealth of experience in geriatrics, acute care, and family medicine to our team.

Kimberly earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Virginia Highlands Community College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University, and her Master of Science in Nursing from King University. She currently supports the School-Based Health Program at the Chilhowie sites, where she is dedicated to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for both students and faculty.

Kimberly’s passion for nursing is deeply personal. After losing her mother to cancer at a young age, the compassion shown by her mother’s healthcare team left a lasting impact and continues to shape the way Kimberly cares for her patients today.

When she’s not at work, Kimberly enjoys getting lost in a good book, crafting whenever inspiration strikes, and spending time with her husband and their many fur babies—who keep life busy, joyful, and full of love.

💙 Thank you, Kimberly, for the compassion, dedication, and heart you bring to the students and families you serve!

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Kelsie Perrigan Strong, MSN, FNP-BC, FNP-C 🌟

We’re excited to highlight Kelsie Strong, a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner serving students and families at School-Based Health at John S. Battle High School (JSB) and High Point Elementary School (HPES).

👩‍⚕️ With SVCHS Since: 2023
🩺 Years in Healthcare: 8

Background & Experience
Kelsie’s journey in healthcare began as a patient care tech during nursing school, followed by work as an ER nurse at a Level One Trauma Center. She gained additional experience in telehealth before returning to the ER, all while completing graduate school. After graduating in December 2022, she worked as an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner before finding her professional home at Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems in November 2023.

Why Healthcare?
Kelsie’s passion for medicine was shaped early in life. At just 12 years old, she helped care for her father during his battle with terminal cancer. That experience revealed her calling—one rooted in compassion, service, and treating patients like family.

Specialties & Certifications
✔️ Dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner
✔️ BLS & ACLS certified

Outside of Work
When she’s not caring for patients, Kelsie enjoys spending time at church, playing volleyball, coaching her kids’ sports teams, camping with her family, lake days, and—her specialty—coordinating outfits for just about everything!

What She Loves Most About Being a Provider
“I love helping bridge the gap between the medical profession and our patients. Listening to their stories and treating each person as an individual is incredibly important to me.”

A Message to Patients
Kelsie believes care doesn’t end when the workday does. She is committed to easing worries, answering questions, and making healthcare feel less intimidating. Her patients are never “just another visit”—they are heard, valued, and respected. White coat syndrome? Not here.

🎓 Fun Fact: Kelsie is a John S. Battle High School alum and is thrilled to serve in her own high school and give back to the community that helped shape her.

We’re proud to have Kelsie as part of the SVCHS team and grateful for the heart she brings to patient care every day 💙
