Each month, there is a different Port of Call theme. This month, the theme is Lima, Peru.

Lima is a longstanding, historic city rich in culture and attractions for tourists to see. Founded on January 18, 1535 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, Lima was given the nickname “The City of Kings” because the discovery date was close to the Epiphany, a popular Christian festival. Today, Lima is home to over 8 million people, and hosts a blend of cultural and architectural influences from the different civilizations over the years.

Each month, the participating affiliated communities will host the monthly Port of Call program. Port of Call is a Life Enrichment program designed to educate the residents with food, games, activities, and fun based on a different country or city.

What a great treat that our residents received, this week! They got a preview of a local play here in Saluda called Matilda. We love that the play group came right to us here at Autumn Care of Saluda to bring lots of joy, love and laughter to our residents. If you are local, come check out their full play!

Today is National Purple Up Day! This day is dedicated to honor US military children for the sacrifices they make. Purple symbolizes the colors of each branch of the military mixed together!💜

Such a fun way to bring back some fishing fun with our residents here at Autumn Care of Saluda! Our residents magnet-fished with real fishing poles and cut out fish with magnets. It was amazing to see how they loved using a real fishing pole and the memories of the stories they told about trips they went on!🎣
