No, we’re not being dramatic. If your teenager is limiting calories or expressing interest in doing so, it’s time to step in. Talk to them, explore why. Make sure you’re eating meals together. Explore your own diet and body image beliefs. Consider bringing them to talk to a registered dietitian ➡️➡️➡️ seeing a registered dietitian once or twice for healthy ideas is a lot easier than eating disorder recovery!

Getting to the “right” weight will not fix it. Eating disorders are serious behavioral disorders controlled by our mental health. Professional health is not an option when it comes to recovering. The time to seek help is now.

Although there is no cookie cutter or one size fits all treatment plan, there are some common components. Often, your first appointment will be an hour long initial consult to find out more about you and your goals and get you started in the right direction. Follow ups are often 30 minutes. Depending on your needs, nutrition experientials at a restaurant or grocery store can easily be included.
