We all need to accomplish our wins as well as breakdowns and why they happened, so we can release guilt, shame, and REALLY EMBRACE OUR WINS. When the adjustment question is answered, then this information can be used to help you get clarity about what your next steps are!

If you answer these questions each week, you can gain insight whether the goals you have set for yourself and your actions are working or not, so you can adjust them accordingly.

It is also a very helpful set of questions for your clients at each session (or even using the entire Focus Wheel form) to evaluate progress of their sessions. From the Focus Wheel Form.

We are at a crucial juncture for E2SHB 1589 Concerning the relationships between health carriers and contracting providers.

Brief Summary of Engrossed Second Substitute Bill
• Requires health carriers to negotiate in good faith with providers.
• Prohibits certain provisions from provider contracts.
• Requires the Office of the Insurance Commissioner to study allowed amounts over time for certain services.

The bill was voted out of the House of Representatives with 73 yeas, 23 nays so we have good support in the House! The next step is that the bill needs to get a public hearing in the Senate Health Care Committee. Please contact the members of the Senate Health Care Committee below and request that the bill get scheduled for a public hearing and ask for their support for passing the bill.

Dear Senator----

Please support E2SHB 1589 Concerning the relationships between health carriers and contracting providers by requesting a Public Hearing be scheduled in the Senate Health Care Committee. This bill will help level the playing field between health care providers and insurers by allowing for “good faith” contract negotiations.

Massage Therapists have experienced stagnant reimbursement rates from insurers over the past ten plus year, with the cost of doing business significantly higher for providing care. Many massage therapists have stopped working through insurance as it no longer covers their cost of providing the service. Providers have not been allowed to negotiate contracts and it’s a “take it or leave it” situation for providers. In new contracts it is difficult to know what has changed since the last one causing confusion for the providers.

This bill has been extensively negotiated with the insurers to try and gain their neutrality. Many insured patients are paying out of pocket for the care they are unable to access through their benefits. Massage therapy reduces the cost of insurance by providing preventative, non-pharmacological care to patients.
