WE'RE HIRING!
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) – Full-Time and part-time
San Angelo Autism Center
At San Angelo Autism Center, we’re looking for compassionate, reliable people who want to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. Whether you’re brand new to the field or already have experience, we provide training, support, and hands-on learning to help you grow.
What this job is really like:
This is a very active, hands-on role. You’ll spend your day working one-on-one with children with autism, helping them learn communication, play, and daily living skills. Some days are incredibly rewarding, and others can be challenging. Progress can take time, patience, and consistency.
You will be teaching skills, celebrating small wins, and also helping children work through behaviors like tantrums, aggression (hitting, kicking, scratching), or elopement (running away). You need to be prepared to stay calm, patient, and supportive during these moments.
What you’ll be doing:
Work directly with children in a clinic and/or home setting
Follow treatment plans created by a BCBA (supervisor)
Teach communication, social, and daily living skills
Help reduce challenging behaviors in a safe and supportive way
Collect data during sessions (we’ll train you on this)
Prepare materials for sessions
Receive feedback and coaching and be open to learning and improving
What we’re looking for:
Someone who enjoys working with children
Patient, dependable, and able to stay calm under pressure
Willing to take feedback and continue learning
Comfortable being active (sitting on the floor, moving, playing, etc.)
Experience with children is preferred, but not required
Important things to know:
This is not a “babysitting” job—there is structure, data collection, and goals to meet
You may assist with things like toilet training and daily routines
You will need to stay engaged and present for the full session (this is not a passive role)
Training and ongoing supervision are required to maintain your RBT certification
Support & Growth:
You will be supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who will guide you, train you, and support your development. We believe in building strong therapists and creating a team environment where you feel supported.
If you’re looking for meaningful work where you can see real impact and you’re ready for both the challenges and rewards, we’d love to meet you!
