Charles "Chuck" Stephen Brown, II

Charles “Chuck” Stephen Brown, II, 58, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on July 27, 1967, in San Angelo to Stephen and Ellen Brown.

Chuck graduated from Central High School and attended Angelo State University. Following his time at ASU, he began his career with the Colorado Municipal District Research Team, where he worked on the landmark study that determined the Concho water snake was not endangered. Chuck played a hands-on role in the study, capturing water snakes, implanting microchips, and returning them to their natural habitats. His three years of research helped pave the way for the development of the Lake Ivie Reservoir.

Chuck later worked as a hydrologist for SK Engineering before becoming Director of Operations for the Upper Colorado River Authority (UCRA) in San Angelo. During his tenure, he contributed to numerous significant projects, including brush eradication feasibility studies along the North, Middle, and South Concho Rivers, which led to millions in state funding for local ranchers and farmers to improve water access. He was also instrumental in the Storm Water Pilot Project, which documented water runoff events in San Angelo and secured federal grants for the city. The State of Texas relied on Chuck’s expertise to monitor water quality throughout the region.

In 2021, Chuck founded his own business, Hydro Corporation, providing water quality services to several West Texas cities.

A true outdoorsman, Chuck was happiest fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and deep love for his family—especially his granddaughter, Elena. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dogs, Cinco and Maverick.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Jenni Brown; daughters, Megan Mann and husband Jesse, and Hannah Brown; granddaughter, Elena Mann; father, Stephen Brown, and wife Becky. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Brown, and infant daughter, Jordan Nicole Brown.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo.

Annette & Laurence Lasater

Annette Ruth Nixon was born June 20, 1938, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the second daughter of Edgar and Ruth Nixon. She passed away on June 21, 2025.

She graduated from the University of Colorado, receiving a B.S. degree in Business Management with a Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education. After graduation she lived in Denver, Colorado, and held executive secretarial positions at Continental Airlines and Continental Oil.

Laurence Matthews Lasater, a longtime rancher, was born October 21, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, the eldest child of Thomas and Mary Casey Lasater, founders of the Beefmaster breed of cattle. He died on July 2, 2025.

Laurie attended Fountain Valley School near Colorado Springs and Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, graduating in 1953. Laurie graduated with honors from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1963.

Laurie and Annette married November 21, 1964, in Laredo, Texas. They moved to Coahuila, Mexico, where they introduced the Beefmaster breed. Both of their children, Laurence M. “Lorenzo” Lasater, Jr., and Annette Isabel Lasater, were born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.

Upon returning to the United States in 1972, they founded Isa Cattle Co., Inc., which markets Beefmaster genetics worldwide, and ranched near San Angelo, Texas, until their retirement in 2014.

A fourth-generation rancher, Laurie served as a director of Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and Nolan Ryan Beef. He also served as president of Foundation Beefmaster Association, and in 2000 he was honored as Beefmaster Breeders United’s Breeder of the Year. Laurie was inducted into the BBU Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Texas Heritage Hall of Honor in 2020 in recognition of his contributions to the state’s agricultural heritage.

Between the two, Laurie and Annette wrote eight books: Laurie authored The Lasater Philosophy of Cattle Raising in 1972, now in its 17th printing; Welcome to the New Cattle Industry; Tailwind Both Ways; and Great Cattlemen I Have Known. Annette penned Two to Mexico, a memoir of their 10 years living in Mexico; and three children’s books, Lorenzo and Don Clemente; Granddad’s Farm House; and School Days and Book Learnin’.

In San Angelo, Laurie served as elder of the First Presbyterian Church, chairman of the United Way Allocations Committee, and president of the Samaritan Counseling Center. Annette also was an elder of First Presbyterian and served on the Tom Green County Library board and the regional library board, as well as various committees and charity volunteer work.

Laurie and Annette are survived by their son, Lorenzo, and his wife, Leslie, and their daughter, Isabel, and her husband, J.C. Hernandez. They are also survived by five grandchildren: Laurence M. “Watt” Lasater, III, and his wife, Addison; Beau Cameron Lasater and his wife, Paige; and Luke Laurence, Benjamin Lasater, and Sabella Ivy Hernandez; three great-grandchildren: Jaxon James, Elizabeth Wren, and Emma Marie Lasater; and siblings Dixie Nixon, Lane Lasater, and Sally Lasater.

Although known for his many ranching accomplishments, “Dad L” was devoted to his family and cherished spending time with them. His larger-than-life persona touched many around the world. “Mom A” was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose fierce family devotion and loving heart changed lives for the better. They will both be deeply missed.

A combined memorial service for Laurie and Annette will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to the Beefmaster Educational Endowment Foundation (www.beefmasterfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.

In Loving Memory of Carlos Humberto Domani

April 28, 1942 – July 28, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Carlos Humberto Domani, age 83, of San Angelo, Texas. Surrounded by family and love, Carlos was called home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2025.

Carlos was born on April 28, 1942, in Progreso, Yucatán, Mexico, to Jose Cannan and Maria Candelaria Silva Domani. From humble beginnings, he grew up in Mexico, where his values of faith, family, and hard work were first rooted. At just 17 years old, with courage and determination beyond his years, Carlos immigrated to the United States in search of a better life — a journey that would ultimately shape the legacy he leaves behind.

In time, he met the love of his life, Guadalupe E. De Hoyos, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in love, commitment, and faith. Their marriage of 60 remarkable years was a testament to enduring devotion, and through every joy and challenge, they remained hand in hand. Carlos was a devoted husband, a proud father, a tender grandfather, and a loyal friend. He lived for his family, always putting their needs above his own. Known for his unwavering work ethic, Carlos spent the majority of his life in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He took pride in providing for his loved ones and carried himself with quiet strength and humility.

He had a warm smile, a kind spirit, and a heart that welcomed everyone. Whether through his stories, his laughter, or the simple acts of love he showed daily, Carlos left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved parents, two sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his cherished wife, Guadalupe E. Domani of San Angelo; his beloved children: Carlos Domani and wife Maritza of Chicago, IL; Denyse Domani of San Angelo; Jorge Domani and wife Dora Nelly of San Antonio; Diana Domani of San Antonio; and Desirée Juarez and husband Efrain of San Angelo. He was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren: Abraham Domani, Samuel A. Domani, Anneli Domani, Diego Elizondo, Doreli Domani, Alex Domani, Natalia Domani, Joel Domani, Adrian Rosales, Angel Rosales, Samuel I. Rosales, Ambar Rosales, Caleb Rosales, Alan Juarez, Jose Gonzalez, Debora Gonzalez, and Daniel Gonzalez; and was blessed to welcome four great-grandchildren into his heart.

Carlos is also survived by his brother Jorge Domani Silva of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will forever treasure his memory.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Harper Funeral Home. A celebration of Carlos’s life and legacy will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025, also at Harper Funeral Home.

Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing that Carlos now rests peacefully in the arms of the Lord — his journey complete, his love eternal. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his legacy will continue to shine through all those who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to share their memories and offer condolences by signing the online guest book at www.harper-funeralhome.com

Adelina Penilla Martinez

Adelina went home to the Lord to be welcomed by her Husband Benjamin on July 24, 2025, at age 90. Awaiting her in Heaven were many sisters, brothers, friends, a son, a grandson, great grandsons and her beloved parents. She died under Hospice care at Cedar Manor in San Angelo.

Adelina was born in Karnes City, Texas on December 28, 1934. Married to Benjamin B. Martinez in Concho County, Eden, Texas on December 29th, 1951, to her parents: Augustine Penilla Sr. and Martiana Gonzalez Penilla

The life Adelina had these 90 years on this earth would take volumes of pages to truly give her life story justice. Unconditional love and devotion to caring for others describes Adelina so well. Her childhood was filled with family working together in various states harvesting fruits and vegetables. When Adelina would go to school, she would get a nickel, and her drink was 3 cents and she was able to get Frito chips with the rest. She was good with money even as a child!

Upon marriage Adelina and Ben moved to Paducah, Texas. During this time her husband was a foreman, and they talked about their future. They chose to move to a city where there were more opportunities for growth as their family was expanding. In the beginning they lived in several houses around San Angelo where Mom would turn them into homes. When they bought their house in San Angelo, she turned it into a home with a warm and caring environment. She always made sure the home was clean and welcoming, making sure her children had clean and ironed clothes. Throughout her life she was a nurturer. When a sister or other family member called in an emergency she would go to them and stay until she felt she could go back home, and they were okay. She was a problem solver, a homemaker, an entrepreneur, a devoted mother and wife, a true friend and a devout Christian. When there were meals, we all remember everyone would have food first and she would keep going and eat standing up to be ready to get anything else someone would need during the meal. Mom never drove but she was always out doing things with her daughter, grandchildren, friends, and sons. Mom enjoyed the little trips and big trips David took her on. Adelina had a huge heart and shared it with everyone. She loved giving little gifts and making people happy. When something was wrong with any of us in the family, we would call her and ask her to pray for us, there was something beyond beautiful about her pure prayers that always helped us. Mom always welcomed family visits, it was never a burden, it was a blessing, a home filled with love, laughter and memories. She loved calling Diane every day and especially having Diane perm and color her hair very Blonde! Adelina and Ben had a relationship that was together, facing trials, happiness, and the future as one. Her devout faith came from the strength of her father’s conviction; she carried it her whole life. Everything is done with God. When her husband went home to the Lord, she mourned him very much and stayed strong and did what she felt was right to keep moving forward for herself and her family. We were able to be with Mom over 23 years because of her strength and love.

She is survived by her sons, David and wife Debbie Martinez, Robert and wife Martha Martinez, and Jerry Martinez Daughter Diane Martinez. Grandchildren: Crystle Martinez, Amanda Arellano, Kimberly Martinez, David Benjamin Martinez, Joe Angel Martinez, Austin Martinez, Eric Martinez, Rosie Martinez, and Luke Martinez. Great Grandchildren: Angel, Kai, Madilyn, Brooklyn, Marcus, Jazzy, Kaleb, Dominic, Macy, Baby Joe, Gio, Naya, Jeriah, Erilyn, Destiny, Cameron, Maverick, Nayomi, Jocelyn, and Olivia

She is predeceased in death by her husband Benjamin Martinez, son Benjamin, Grandson: Jerry Lee Martinez; Great Grandson: Cezar Antonio Martinez, and Mason Johnnie Martinez; Siblings: Steven Penilla, Augustine Penilla Jr., Maria Gonzales, Encarnacion Hernandez, Selia Plancencio, Eva Delgado, Belia Escamilla, Rita Gomez, Manuela Gamez, Alberta Silva, and Inez Penilla

A visititation will be Tuesday, July 29th from 5:00pm - 7:00 pm at Harper Funeral Home, with services there as well at 10am on July 30th. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery (4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, TX 76905).

There will be a fellowship/Repast at First Baptist Church Christian Life Center (37 E. Harris San Angelo, TX 76903 - Corner of Harris and Chadbourne)

Pallbearers will be Angel Martinez Great Grandson, Grandson Joe Martinez, Grandson Ben Martinez, Great Granddaughter Macy Martinez, Granddaughter in law Becky Martinez, Granddaughter Crystle Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be every grandchild and great grandchild

With heartfelt thanks to First Baptist Church providing a location and meal for our Repast. We thank all who have come to honor Adelina/ Mom one final time, your prayers and contributions in all forms have been a balm to us during this time. Jeffrey Lynn Colvin

Jeffrey Lynn Colvin, 82, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Jeffrey was born July 9, 1943, to George Washington Colvin, Jr., and Dorothy Sutton Colvin. He was born in Marshall and grew up in Bronte and Odessa, TX, and began building a life grounded in hard work and perseverance. His first job was with Bill Sears Grocery Store, where he worked his way up to manager, a testament to his work ethic and leadership. After a decade in the grocery business, he pursued his true passion: cars.

Jeffrey became a skilled and respected mechanic, spending many years working under the hood and under the sun, breathing life into engines and building hot rods that were as much art as machine. He especially loved race cars and took great pride in building high-performance engines. Friends and family knew they could always count on him for help diagnosing car trouble—or for a story about his latest project in the garage. He retired from Jim Bass Ford after many years of dedicated service.

On October 4, 1979, Jeffrey married Shirley Collins-Gayoso, and together they shared 45 years of laughter, love, and partnership. Whether they were dancing across the living room to R&B music, visiting the dragstrip, or simply enjoying each other’s company, theirs was a bond rooted in joy and unwavering support.

Jeffrey had a playful spirit and a kind heart. He adored animals and was never without a beloved pet by his side. He had a soft spot for cats, and his gentle way with animals revealed the depth of his compassion.

Above all, Jeffrey was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a deeply cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He delighted in family gatherings, where he could share stories, wrestle with the grandkids, and, if music was playing, show off a dance move or two. His legacy of love, humor, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Steven Dennis Colvin. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Colvin of San Angelo, TX; his children, Marsha Colvin Ostrander and her husband Wayne of Abilene, TX; Jeff Colvin, Jr. and his wife Becky of Pflugerville, TX; and Bryan Gayoso and his wife Lindsey of Ballinger, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and lifelong friends. Special thanks to the wonderful and compassionate care provided to Jeffrey by Ballinger Healthcare & Rehab Center.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M., Friday, July 25, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home. A celebration of Jeffrey’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home, with a private burial to follow.

In honor of Jeffrey’s lifelong love for animals, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Concho Valley Paws.

Family and friends may share their condolences and sign the online register book at www.harper-funeralhome.com
