Hashim Jamal Ghazi Husein

Hashim Jamal Ghazi Husein passed away on March 4, 2026, in Austin, Texas.

Hashim passed away far too soon at the age of 21 leaving behind a deep sorrow in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Hashim was a young man with a heart of gold. He cared deeply for all his friends, and there was nothing he would not do for them. His kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit touched many lives, and he was the kind of person people could always count on.

He loved his family dearly, treasured his parents, Jamal and Karla, and shared a special bond with his sister, Amani, and brother, Arturo; his sister-in-law, Jordan; and his nephew, Eli. His family meant everything to him, and the love they shared will remain forever.

Taken long before his time, Hashim left a world that had become too dark for his gentle soul. Though his life was brief, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Some lights shine so brightly that even when they leave us too soon, their warmth never fades. Hashim’s light will forever shine on his family and friends. We love you Hash.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Johnny Louis Wyatt, Jr.

Johnny Louis Wyatt Jr., 78, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2026, just three days before his 79th birthday.

Johnny was born on March 4, 1947, in Haskell, Texas, to Johnnie Louis Wyatt Sr. and Mildred Faye (Taylor) Wyatt. He grew up in Rochester, Texas, where he attended Rochester High School and proudly supported the Rochester Steers. The values of small-town West Texas—hard work, resilience, and loyalty to family—shaped the man he would become.

Johnny went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam War as a Weapons Systems Officer aboard the F-4 Phantom II. During his combat service he flew numerous missions over hostile territory and demonstrated extraordinary courage and skill in aerial combat operations.

For his actions and sustained combat performance, Johnny received numerous military decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross with 13 Oak Leaf Clusters, representing fourteen total awards of one of the Air Force’s most respected combat decorations. The Distinguished Flying Cross is awarded for heroism or extraordinary achievement during aerial flight in combat, recognizing acts performed above and beyond normal duty while facing enemy forces.

Johnny was also awarded the Air Medal with 19 Oak Leaf Clusters, representing twenty total Air Medals, recognizing his extensive participation in combat flight operations and sustained meritorious achievement during aerial missions. These awards reflect the large number of combat sorties he flew and the repeated exposure to danger he faced while operating in hostile environments.

Together, these honors represent an extraordinary record of service and stand as a testament to Johnny’s courage, discipline, and dedication to his fellow airmen and his country.

Following his military service, Johnny devoted his life to education and mentoring young people. He attended McMurry University and later earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Sul Ross State University. Throughout his career he served as a teacher, coach, and administrator, influencing countless students and colleagues. Johnny believed deeply in the power of education and carried a quiet but steady leadership style that left a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Though he served his country and his schools with pride, Johnny’s roots were always tied to the land. Whether working cotton fields, tending to farm responsibilities, or simply enjoying the wide-open spaces of West Texas, he carried with him the spirit of the place he called home. He appreciated the simple things in life—hard work, honest conversations, and time spent with family.

Those who knew Johnny remember his strength of character, quiet determination, sharp wit, and deep loyalty to the people he loved. His life journey—from jet fuel to cotton patches to the schoolhouse—reflected a man who served his country, his community, and his family with pride.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Caroline Massagee Wyatt, his parents Johnnie Louis Wyatt Sr. and Mildred Faye Wyatt, and his niece Jennifer Wyatt Baumgarten.

He is survived by his three sons: John Mark Wyatt of Wichita Falls, Texas; James Robert Wyatt and wife Kim of Rankin, Texas; and Samuel Stephen Wyatt and wife Dawn of Pecos, Texas. Johnny was a proud grandfather to Noah Wyatt of Wichita Falls; Robert Riley Wyatt of Rankin, Texas; Kaylee (Wyatt) Porter and husband Will Porter; and Cody Wyatt of San Angelo, Texas; Avery Wyatt of Wink, Texas; and Jaxon Wyatt of Big Lake, Texas.

He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Liam Wyatt and Adalyn Wyatt. Johnny is also survived by his brother Mike Wyatt and wife Judy of Wichita Falls, Texas, along with extended family and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.

From the cockpit of an F-4 Phantom flying combat missions over Vietnam, to cotton fields in West Texas, to classrooms where he shaped young lives, Johnny Wyatt lived a life defined by courage, service, and quiet strength.

His legacy lives on through the generations he helped guide, teach, and inspire.

A graveside service will be held in the coming months at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Texas. The family will announce the date and time once arrangements have been completed.

Patrick Chase McPhaul

Patrick “Chase” McPhaul, also known as “Prep” to many, of Big Lake, went to the arms of Jesus February 26, 2026, at the age of 42. He was born on June 17, 1983, in Colorado City, TX, to Rick and Tracey (Gassiot) McPhaul of Big Lake, TX.

Chase’s siblings include a brother, Calen McPhaul, and sister Callie (McPhaul) McNeese who were blessed to have him as an older brother to look up to. He started his early years in Colorado City, where he enjoyed golf, basketball, and his favorite being baseball. He had many friends and family there, and those friends he still held close for all of these years. At 8 years old he and his family moved to Big Lake. Here he kept on with his love for golf and baseball, but this is also where his love for sheep began. He won many awards through 4H with his best being his big Houston win. He made a great group of friends who to this day became more like family to him. Chase graduated from Reagan County High School in 2001.

He went on to pursue his career in Agriculture, starting out at Howard College, in Big Spring. He was on the livestock judging team there and transferred to Texas Tech to finish his bachelor's degree in Ag Leadership. He was also on the meat judging team at Texas Tech. After graduating he received his master's from Texas A&M Kingsville and began his career as the Crockett County 4H agent. He enjoyed his time and the people he met in Ozona but got back to his Big Lake roots as the Reagan County 4H agent where he has worked ever since. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Big Lake. He was a big part of the community and earned the Horizon award from the Chamber of Commerce.

Chase started dating the love of his life, Lauren (Tarvin) McPhaul, and they married in a beautiful ceremony at her parent's ranch on December 27, 2008. They have two amazing kids together, Raider and Ramsey McPhaul. He loved his family with everything he had and worked hard for them. He was a great daddy; he pushed Raider to always be the best he could be and always knew how much potential he had in all he loved. His Ramsey had him wrapped around her finger, he loved his girl!

One of his favorite things in life was the stock show world. He was on the stock show committee for the Sandhills Stock Show and also an official for the Collegiate Livestock Contest in San Antonio. He judged in many different towns and states. He loved having the mic in his hand to give his reasons for animals. Anyone that knew Chase knew that they could count on him for help with their animals. To sit back and watch the amount of people that went up to him at stock shows, to get advice on their animals, was so neat to see. Chase loved a good finewool. He enjoyed picking sheep out for his son, his county kids, his family, friends, or anyone that wanted his help. His love for sheep moved into him and his best friend, Sam Silvers, raising sheep and taking over Maddog Sheep Company.

When he was young, he loved to stand up on the fireplace and sing George Strait's “All My Exes Live in Texas,” with his cowboy hat on. He loved his rocking horse so much that he would rock himself to sleep on it. Chase was known for how he dressed. Since he was little, he always had to wear the nicest clothes, which gave him the nickname “Prep.” His love for Texas Tech ran strong. Chase had a deep love for many. He could light up any room he walked in with his smile and personality. He had a way of being the entertainment without even trying to be through his stories, jokes, sayings, and hand motions. He spent his extra time with family, friends, at the barn, at the farm, or on the golf course. He loved a good money match at the golf course and made some forever friends through golf.

Chase is survived by his loving wife and kids, Lauren, Raider, and Ramsey McPhaul. His parents, Rick and Tracey McPhaul. His siblings Calen and wife Brianna McPhaul, Callie and husband Garrett McNeese. His nieces and nephews Baylor, Kynlee, Witten, Oaklen, Willa Grace, Colsen, Berkley, and Tenley. His grandmother Kay Fite. Father and Mother in-law Keith and Jeanine Tarvin, sister-in-law Ashley and husband David Allison. Aunts and Uncles Julie and husband Ronnie Rogers, Randy and wife Robbie McPhaul, Sherry Gassiot, Scott and wife Penny Gassiot. He is also survived by many cousins and friends that were family to him. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Daddad, and Granny.
