Hello all,
With the closing of Mandala Den I have moved over to Lionheart yoga and fitness to carry on with private sessions and classes. In November I will start hosting groups at Lionheart every Sunday at 6:15 after Stacy Lind’s yin class and started booking private sessions this week.
There will be some new elements to the group event on Sunday . 12 spaces… the set up will be on tatami mats being handmade right now in Japan. I am excited to ditch the synthetic yoga mats add this grounding element to the sound bath experience and Ryuki of Kohaku is excited to be making these mats for a therapeutic sound/meditation setting and shared with me that Tatami being made from natural rush grass, “enhances the sense of connection to nature and also contains phytoncides—the same compounds that provide the relaxing effects of forest bathing.” I didn’t have that detail when I set out to look for to tatami mats, but intuitively this was definitely the kind of objective I was after!
I will be pulling another element from Japan into these events by integrating a tea “ceremony” into the group experience, where we can sit and share tea together while integrating the session. This will be a new twist on the traditional tea ceremony, which has way too many formalities for my preference, but the traditional experience of tea in and of itself is quite an elevated one compared to how we do tea in the west, and I look forward to bringing different tastes and flavors from around the world to the clay pot every week.
Every aspect of this is geared towards unplugging from our increasingly high tech fast paced world— For a moment of stillness and an opportunity to reset. The sounds are all organic, no electronics involved, moving through the air and carrying energy from the bronze and silver of the hand crafted instruments, to your body, resting on the tatami mats that carry with them the grounding forest energy of Japan. And finally the energy carried through the teas that are so exquisitely hand tended with a care and attention to detail that is so unique to the Japanese culture... The roots of organic farming in Japan can be traced back to traditional agricultural practices before the widespread use of synthetic chemicals. These methods, often referred to as "natural farming" or "Shizen Noho," were based on the principles of harmony with nature, minimal intervention, and maintaining the natural balance of ecosystems. Every detail counts… Including the water used, which will be from our source that I started building infrastructure for years ago: Rainwater. filtered and then solarized in blue glass to capture the sun’s energy, and remineralized with clay… and then there’s the even subtler aspects of remineralizing and purifying that the clay kettles impart to the tea, and the water structure, which I find soooo fascinating. This is all about subtle energy. I could say so much more on that, and I will as time goes on, but I’ve already gone on for quite a while here…
I’m sure we will incorporate a bit of breath work and a bit of Qigong in these Sunday gatherings, and in summary, I hope to see you there!
