This is the final week of Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. This week focuses on the importance of uplifting the voices of those with lived experiences.

Key Messages:

When people feel respected, heard, and valued, they are more likely to seek help and stay connected.

People who have faced mental health struggles or suicidal thoughts bring valuable insight that can shape better support systems.

Real change starts with real voices. Empowering community members and peers to lead creates lasting impact in su***de prevention.

Real connection can help prevent a crisis. A simple check-in, conversation, shared story, or helpful resource can make someone feel less alone. Remember—sharing truly is caring.

Hearing from those with lived experience makes su***de prevention more hopeful, more human, and more healing.

On Friday, September 12th, we had the pleasure of honoring Mrs. Gloria Villarreal and her 33 years of service to the Center as she is set to retire this month. Gloria was surrounded by a room filled of peoples lives that she has touched within the organization and the community. During Gloria's 33 years of services, she has made very impactful relationships with the families we serve and organization throughout the seven (7) counties. We had many share their stories of how Gloria has impacted them and their families. Gloria also wrote two beautiful poems that she shared with everyone about her years with the Center. We will truly miss Gloria and everything she has done. Happy Retirement.

We have entered week 3 of Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. This week focuses on the importance of improving care and outcomes for people at risk for su***de through effective pathways to care and collaborative safety planning.

Key Messages:

Accessibility and visibility of resources is crucial so that those in need of support can easily find care. A barrier to seeking help is often simply finding and having access to appropriate supports. Establishing clear pathways to care encourages help-seeking and saves lives.

Working together on a safety plan gives people a sense of control and hope.

Su***de prevention isn’t about just one moment; it is about continued care over time. Ongoing support and follow-up care builds trust and supports long-term healing and recovery.

When someone is having suicidal thoughts, connection, thorough planning, and dedicated follow-up care create a vital structure of safety and support.

Everyone deserves access to treatments that work. Promoting evidence-based care is key to su***de prevention.

Continuity of care ensures ongoing support and long-term healing.

Prioritizing self-care is a vital way to support your mental well-being and reduce the risk of su***de. This includes simple, consistent actions like getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, engaging in regular physical activity, and finding healthy ways to manage stress, such as mindfulness, hobbies, or spending time in nature.
