I believe this is locally written and rather powerful. Continue to advocate my friends, keep fighting the good fight.
"Please God my parents will be nice to me, Leo"
If you've ever been to The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Gardens in Kerrville, you know that there are various rocks and materials to write prayers on.
On a recent trip, I saw this prayer and my heart dropped. This child is begging God for his parents to be nice to him. Makes any of our own problems seem a little smaller huh?
I don't know this child's situation. However, I do know that there are so many Leos in this world. Yes, even in your city. Yes, even in your neighborhood.
Again, I do not know this child's situation but I do know Leo is hurting. April was Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, May is Foster Care Awareness Month. Every single person in Texas is a mandated reporter of child abuse.
So how do you take action?
-Learn the signs and how to report abuse. Children's Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc. has FREE classes about these topics.
-Learn more about foster care. Fostering Concho Valley Kids has so many organizations under their umbrella so you can find the right one that suits your family or situation.
-Become a certified babysitter so foster parents can have a break every now and then.
-Give money, toiletries, clothing, shoes, cribs, etc to places like Foster Closet of San Angelo.
-Get involved with youth programs and family support programs. For example, the Blackshear Heights Family organization has multiple initiatives going on to support healthy families year-round.
While I don't know the specifics of Leo's situation, something we can all do right here and now is pray for him and the other Leos in the world. Please join me in lifting them up.
