Modern anatomy starting to catch up with something acupuncture has long known - the body is deeply connected.

The piece describes the latest understanding of the interstitium, a fluid-filled spaces within and around connective tissue, including connections between the skin, fascia, and deeper structures of the body.

That matters for acupuncture.

Acupuncture does not just “poke a muscle” or “stimulate a nerve.” It works through living tissue - fascia, fluid, nerves, blood flow, immune signaling and the body’s ability to regulate itself.

The research does not prove every acupuncture mechanism. But it does add to the modern anatomical lens for why needles at the surface of the body produce effects much broader than the needle itself.

The detection of another circulatory system in the human body could have enormous scientific implications.

Starting in June, Renew Community Acupuncture will be adding Thursdays to the schedule.

Since opening in November, the Sunday clinic has steadily grown, and I’m grateful for the interest and support from the community. Adding a second day means more room for affordable, repeatable acupuncture care in San Anselmo.
