Sitting in the heart of uncertainty, pain, grief, love and everything in between right now 💖
The struggle I think all of us are facing right now is that the community we live in has changed. We once lived in a community that was a few blocks, a town, maybe as large as a city. We could navigate that. The news had a start and end time. The newspaper had a beginning and an end.
Now? Endless. 👀
There is no boundary that tells us when we’ve “caught up” on the daily news. And the news is city wide, state wide, national and worldwide. Our brains, our nervous systems aren’t designed for this.
Our beautiful, artful, exquisite bodies are designed for connection, metabolizing information and creating solutions. Our hearts, our souls are designed for upleveling, revolution, evolution and healing.✨
So what do we do now?
Some ideas for reconnecting to yourself and your community when the world, the heartache, the grief and the overwhelm is just too much:
Put a time limit on your phone—social media and/or the news. Endless scrolling is not serving you and you know it. Cap your news and social media time at 1 hour a day.
Connect in real life with real people. Texting isn’t connection. It’s exchanging information. Make a call, meet for tea. Go hang out with the trees for an hour. Your body, your heart, and your mind will thank you.
Activism your way. There are many ways to be a changemaker in this world. Don’t let fearmongering and shame spirals keep you from acting and engaging in a way that works for you. Remember that making calls to your local government, writing letters, showing up for a protest, having difficult conversations with friends/family/peers and creating art are all ways to engage in meaningful change.
I hope that whatever challenge you are facing right now, you take a moment to think about one thing you could do to care for yourself, schedule it, and make it happen. 💗
No matter what is arising, you are connected and held in this world, and you are not alone. 🫶🏻
Sending love. Always.
