Kim Burris Holistic Psychotherapy

Kim Burris Holistic Psychotherapy Holistic Psychotherapy for humans navigating anxiety, life purpose, spirituality and motherhood ✨ I am here to help. The life you were born to enjoy.

I’m Kim Burris, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) in El Dorado Hills. I believe that being human is a practice and that we all need support. As a holistic psychotherapist, I offer evidence based treatment with a heart centered approach. I help my clients fear less, love more, and live their best life right now. I specialize in supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and motherhood (including assessment and treatment of postpartum mood disorders, postpartum depression + postpartum anxiety). Anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm can keep you from living your best life. When you’re too busy slaying the demons in your mind, it can leave you with precious little time for creating and enjoying the life you actually want to be living. Holistic counseling and therapy offers a mind body approach to healing. In my practice I offer traditional talk therapy that integrates the full experience of being human, creating space for exploring mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Healing and change is always possible. Therapy can help. Get started now with a call or text to chat about what’s going on for you: 916.467.9539. I see clients in person in my El Dorado Hills office and also provide telehealth/online counseling services. I am accepting new clients and offer morning, daytime, evening and weekend appointments.

Sitting in the heart of uncertainty, pain, grief, love and everything in between right now 💖

The struggle I think all of us are facing right now is that the community we live in has changed. We once lived in a community that was a few blocks, a town, maybe as large as a city. We could navigate that. The news had a start and end time. The newspaper had a beginning and an end.

Now? Endless. 👀

There is no boundary that tells us when we’ve “caught up” on the daily news. And the news is city wide, state wide, national and worldwide. Our brains, our nervous systems aren’t designed for this.

Our beautiful, artful, exquisite bodies are designed for connection, metabolizing information and creating solutions. Our hearts, our souls are designed for upleveling, revolution, evolution and healing.✨

So what do we do now?

Some ideas for reconnecting to yourself and your community when the world, the heartache, the grief and the overwhelm is just too much:

Put a time limit on your phone—social media and/or the news. Endless scrolling is not serving you and you know it. Cap your news and social media time at 1 hour a day.

Connect in real life with real people. Texting isn’t connection. It’s exchanging information. Make a call, meet for tea. Go hang out with the trees for an hour. Your body, your heart, and your mind will thank you.

Activism your way. There are many ways to be a changemaker in this world. Don’t let fearmongering and shame spirals keep you from acting and engaging in a way that works for you. Remember that making calls to your local government, writing letters, showing up for a protest, having difficult conversations with friends/family/peers and creating art are all ways to engage in meaningful change.

I hope that whatever challenge you are facing right now, you take a moment to think about one thing you could do to care for yourself, schedule it, and make it happen. 💗

No matter what is arising, you are connected and held in this world, and you are not alone. 🫶🏻

Sending love. Always.

Sending love. And a reminder that purpose, power, connection, grief, and action - rooted in love, is the medicine. One breath, one step at a time.

Rooting for all of us right now (and always). 💗

Gentle reminder: healing isn’t linear, and it isn’t meant to be done at a constant pace. Rest is not a detour from the work— it’s often where the nervous system integrates what’s already been done. Learning when to pause, soften, and tend to yourself is a meaningful part of the healing process.

No one really talks about how brave it is to step into your healing journey. To meet yourself honestly. To listen to what hurts. To choose growth over familiar patterns. 🌙

If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, this is your gentle sign: let rest be your medicine.
Healing isn’t always about fixing. Sometimes it’s about tending, softening, and offering comfort to the parts of you that have carried too much for too long. 🌿🤲🏼

And remember: self-sufficiency isn’t always a strength. Sometimes it’s a trauma response. A younger part of you who learned they had to do everything alone to stay safe.

You don’t have to hold everything by yourself anymore. There is support. There is care. There is another way. 💗✨

You’re human. You’re healing. And you’re learning how to take care of yourself in ways no one ever taught you. That matters. That counts. And it is enough. 🤲🏼✨

Be gentle with yourself today. Your nervous system feels every act of compassion you offer it.

Fear Less. Love More. Holistic Counseling in El Dorado Hills.

Life may feel like an endless cycle of trying harder, doing more, and ending each day feeling depleted, confused and defeated. The life you’ve worked so hard to create doesn’t bring you the joy you thought it would….

So you keep trying. Moving and working and hoping that something will click, that the fears and insecurities you work so hard to hide will find a quiet place to rest. That the inspiration and magic that once guided you will resurface. That the hurts and pains of your past will calm and heal. That the love you long for will find you, fill your heart and that life will finally make sense.

Holistic counseling and therapy offers a mind body approach to healing. In my practice I offer traditional talk therapy that integrates the full experience of being human, creating space for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

I help my clients fear less, love more, and live their best life now.
