With a heavy heart, I want to let the Pomegranate community know that Mollee Franklin died last month. Mollee was an incredible human. A beloved mom and wife and a sought-after birth doula. Mollee's name was the top of every doula referral list in the North Bay (and often SF!) She thrived at home births and in the hospital setting because she was Mollee. So professional, deeply thoughtful and open-minded and creative in tough situations. She listened deeply and honored her client's wishes.

Mollee was a part of Pomegranate's childbirth education program for many years and our team of yoga teachers, educators, and parenting professionals loved working with her. It was an honor to witness Mollee support mothers and families in her comprehensive way.

If Mollee touched your life, join us on Friday, July 18 at Stinson Beach. Details below in photo. Elizabeth Shelhart and I will be there and we would love to sit with you and remember Mollee's intense eyes, her beautiful smile, and her legacy of autonomy and care.

Well… it’s may not be Shannon’s Yoga Barn, but I am pictured here in an actual barn with a yoga studio. 🤩

I am taking on the Thursday evening Vinyasa class at Point Reyes Yoga for the next six weeks and would love to see you there! Class is 6-7:15 PM and will always feature a long savasana.

Point Reyes Yoga is in Toby‘s Feed Barn, which is closed in the evenings so you need to enter through the back gate right across from the park and public bathrooms.

I will also be teaching Gentle Flow this Saturday, July 12 at 8:30am ✨💕

Mother - Daughter Yoga in April was so special. It was a joy to host with my own (16 year-old) daughter and to watch her step into her own gifts.

Our day was full —but relaxing. We shared a yoga practice together and did fun partner poses between the moms and daughters. Daughters learned how to use the props to set up their mamas in savasana. ✨

We had a guided conversation, yummy lunch, and ended with a craft (and time for the girls to run around outside and play with the goats)

Kate and I hope to offer more retreat days like this! Stay tuned ❤️ 🐐 🌲 🧘‍♀️

Feeling the fragility of life so deeply.

As I grieve with our community in the aftermath of a horrific car accident that killed 4 teens and left 2 in critical condition, I waver between paralysis and action.

I’m paralyzed at times because my empathetic heart can (but also cannot) imagine what these parents might be going through right now and it is too much to hold.

In action mode, I try to ease the suffering, have all the conversations with my own teens, and implement rules that will keep my family safe. I want some amount of control. And, of course, I want to avoid feeling the deep fear and grief.

Parenting can be terrifying and life so beautiful and fragile.

Sending love to all of the families and dear friends affected. May we feel the fear and pain and support each other through it.

Introducing Amanda Renschler!

Amanda and I (Shannon) are West Marin neighbors, moms, and co-facilitators for Creating Space in Perimenopause, which is a day retreat on Sat 3/8.

I thought it would be fun to hear a bit more about Amanda’s life right now:

What has been lighting you up in 2025 so far?
Hiking and outings with friends and being with my family.

What is your go-to snack?
Apple with peanut butter.

Where did you grow up and how did that place imprint you?
I grew up in Chicago and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Living in these two places allowed me to enjoy the benefits of the city and the country.

Have you had any wild perimenopause moments thus far?
I have been surprised by how angry and irritable I can be.

We hope to get to know YOU better at our March day retreat. We will share resources, yoga practice, conversation, and a nourishing lunch.
