Dr. Adam Bruggeman at Texas Spine Care Center is excited to use a new implanted device called Barricaid to prevent reherniation after discectomy. Over 30% of lumbar discectomy patients are at high risk for reherniation.

“Barricaid has quickly become a critical part of my practice,” said Dr. Adam Bruggeman. “Patients have many fears going into surgery and Barricaid helps me bring peace of mind about one of the most common and debilitating complications from discectomy surgery: symptomatic re-herniations. Reherniations are expensive both from a cost perspective to the healthcare system in general and also to the patients physical and mental well being. I am thankful for the device and what it has meant to so many of my patients and my practice.”

The Blood Drive brought out the in full force. We are so grateful to everyone who stopped by and gave it their all to donate blood. It was especially powerful to witness the bravery of the Jeffrey daughters, who poured their hearts into today’s event. We hope this is just the beginning of many blood drives honoring Penny, Emlyn, and Emmy.

Texas Spine Care Center is partnering with South Texas Blood & Tissue to host a meaningful blood drive in memory of San Antonio residents, Penny Jeffery, Emlyn Jeffery and their granddaughter Madelyn—who lost their lives in the July 4 Texas floods. This event is a way to honor their memory and help save lives in their name.

Organized by TSCC’s, Dr. Adam Bruggeman and our Director of Marketing and Communications, Scott Chidgey, the team hopes to turn tragedy into something positive for the community.
