This is a message from Tami, the wife of Bryan Wetz. Please read and share and consider helping with the gift of life. Thank you.
Bryan is currently on the Liver Donor Transplant waiting list. Bryan was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver about 4 years ago after an undetected clot that existed in his Portal Vein for an unknown number of years had been found.
One day Bryan is enjoying weekend fishing trips in the waters off Rockport, Texas, attending High School Football games played by his sons, and travelling on annual vacations through the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. The next day he is fatigued, losing weight and making scheduled visits to University Hospital for MRI’s, CT scans, blood tests, and exams. Although Bryan continues to go to work every day and tries to live his Life as best he can, unfortunately, the condition of his liver is not improving and has been impacting Bryan’s day to day activities.
Bryan’s blood type is AB, a rare blood type. So, we have been patiently waiting and praying for a donor. We have had several potential Living Donors come forward but unsuccessful at finding the Liver match Bryan needs. Recent medical issues have made us realize that we need to reach out beyond our circle of Family and Friends to find a Living Liver Donor, as soon as possible.
I am writing this in the hope that One Special Person reads this and realizes that they could be the perfect Living Liver Organ Donor match for Bryan.
Bryan and I realize what we are asking of someone.
Being a Living Organ Donor is a Life altering decision and a wonderful Lifelong gift. Although this is a major request with major surgery and recovery time involved, there is generally little risk involved to the Living Donor and they typically would not experience any serious long-term complications. We are confident that the Transplant team at University Health will provide excellent care and recovery for all involved. The liver has the amazing ability to grow back and donor recipients that receive a Living Organ Donation will generally have fewer medical issues as well as a longer survival rate.
Bryan and I have been married for 10 short years and I am not ready to see his Life shortened by this disease that can be treated through a Thoughtful Liver Donation.
Please take a moment to consider my request and communicate to everyone you may know. That One Special Person is out there. Help us find Him or Her.
