One of the main reasons we recommend spaying is to avoid mammary cancer. That's right! Just like humans, our companion animals develop mammary cancer from the influence of estrogen. It is actually quite common in un-spayed or late spayed females and we see it often in dogs, cats, rats and rabbits. Bunnies frequently also develop uterine cancer. We are excited to announce our team has just returned from VMX, the largest veterinary educational conference in North America! As an AAHA accredited practice, our entire team participates in continuing education throughout the year. In fact, our doctors receive a minimum of 50 hours each! (The requirement for veterinarians in Texas is only 17 hours!) When it comes to keeping abreast of emerging information for your precious pet, remember there is a reason to choose an AAHA accredited practice! We love to learn 🧠how we can better keep you and your pet together longer🐾

This poor cockatiel produced her very first egg and it caused her to become egg bound because of it's massive size compared to her body. After some mild sedation and a small incision, the egg was gently removed and she is back on the road to recovery.
