A simple breakdown:

1. Resistance
“This shouldn’t be happening.”
“This is unfair.”
“I hate that this happened.”
“If I fight hard enough mentally, maybe reality will change.”

This creates tension, rumination, anger, survival mode.

2. Awareness

“This is happening.”
“This affected me.”
“I can feel the pain without becoming the pain.”

This is where honesty enters.

3. Acceptance

“I may not like it.
I may never approve of it.
But I stop fighting the fact that it happened.”

This frees energy.

Acceptance says:

“It happened.”
“It hurt.”
“And I am still here.”
4. Response / Choice

Once reality is accepted, the nervous system can finally ask:

“Now what?”

This is where healing, boundaries, , , and deeper relaxation become possible.

Your brain strengthens whatever you think most.
If you repeat fearful or negative thoughts, your brain makes those pathways stronger.
If you repeat calm, confident thoughts, those become your default instead.
