The Feng Shui of Sleep. You may be aware of this, however if you are not...read on...it may change everything. The earth and human body, both have magnetic fields. Magnetic fields on the Earth are concentrated in the North and the South Pole. When you sleep with your head pointing north, your body’s magnetic field interferes with that of earth. This can fluctuate your blood pressure and can even cause heart problems. You heart needs to work harder to overcome this. If you are elderly or already a heart patient, then you might be at a higher risk of getting a hemorrhage or stroke. Our blood contains a lot of iron. When we sleep facing North, the magnetic pull of that direction attracts iron, which gets accumulated in the brain. This is the reason why many people complain of having a headache when they wake up. This can cause nightmares and sleep disorders and you can wake up tired from the "internal struggle" between your body and the planet. Some people claim that this polarity can affect blood circulation and even raise cholesterol. On a spiritual level, Hindu tradition believes that when the soul dies, it leaves the body for the north, so sleeping in that direction is incorrect. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, sleeping with your head facing east is best, southeast and south next best. In the Southern Hemisphere, west is best. By sleeping towards the east, the magnetic fields are neutralized, and sleep is balanced, promoting memory and concentration and having general health benefits.

White dew gathering the moon cream Qi Gong

Saturday Sept. 10, 2022
The western harvest moon. With the arrival of the full moon we have the opportunity to balance the body by powerfully nourishing Yin Qi through practicing this Qigong. Particularly helpful if your body has deficient Yin energy. [red eyes, fast pulse, dry skin, cough, constipation, restless sleep, anger, anxiety]
During the full moon, stand in the moonlight, facing the moon with your feet hip width apart. Stand and look at the moon for several minutes bathing your body in the moonlight. Then inhale and raise your arms up above your shoulders as though embracing the moon. Imagine you are holding the moon in your hands and arms. Exhale and continue to hold the moon as you move your arms downward until the hands are level with the lower abdomen. As you exhale and bring your arms downward, see and feel the moonlight passing through your head and chest and into your lower abdomen. See and feel the moonlight [ moon cream] entering every part of your head, chest, abdomen and the entire body with calm, cool, Yin Qi. Repeat this for 10 minutes, each time gathering the Yin of the moon into your body. Close by bringing your hands one on top of the other to gently press the lower dantian and imagine storing moon cream inside the lower dantian.

Another aspect of slow movement is the Mind Body connection. We want to watch what the inside of the body is doing in Internal Arts. This takes time for the brain to do. This helps us understand…how relaxed am I?... if a movement is supposed to activate all of the connective tissue, is it doing that or is the movement binding up somewhere? Can I adjust that myself or do I need the help of a deep tissue massage? This is a more advanced aspect of Practice, however we need to begin somewhere. Slowly beginning to start will move us to more awareness.

Here is an example of what slow movements do for you. A slow stability balance movement, when one leg is slowly lifted and stretched forward as a heal kick in Tai Chi or balancing on one leg and doing a few slow squats at the same time, will release Human Growth Hormone. Compare the cost of that next to buying an expensive supplement that is not your own human growth hormone. Some movements at the gym my also do that but will also release adrenaline which will also begin to wear out the organs. Which one would you choose?

Somatic Movement such as Qigong and Tai Chi are slow; there is a reason why and often people are not aware that slow movement releases chemistry in the body that is beneficial...and we do not get those benefits by just doing fast movements. I realize that slow movements for most people are avoided because the benefit has not been explained; I will explain further in my next post.

Seasonal Qigong Aug. 22 to Sept 9. This is the Limit of Heat. Here is a Spinal Meditation Energy Enhancement for this period. Focus your attention on the T1 Vertebra. Inhale Cosmic Qi into all the pores to enter T1. Visualize T1 glowing brightly, exhale radiant light out into the bones, organs, connective tissues and skin. Repeat 36 times. To close, consolidate Qi for 9 breaths, inhale Cosmic Qi into the lower Dantian, exhale and imagine the Qi condenses there. This energizes the spine and body for the entire period. The ideal time to do this meditation is in the first 2 hours of the change into this period. Although that time has passed you can still do the meditation now. We will do the Limit of Heat Qigong Movements in class.

This is the year of the Yang Water Tiger.
I was born in the year of the Metal Tiger. Metal creates Water and Water creates Wood and began Feb. 1, 2022
The Tiger is usually associated with the Wood Element. Because water is associated with the color black, this year is sometimes known as the Black Yang Tiger Year. The combination of Water and Wood in 2022 is positive as Water supports and nourishes Wood, and Wood gives Water stability and the capacity to attain its goals.
Chinese astrologers say that 2022 will be a year overflowing with opportunities and prosperity, a good time to make life changes and start new projects. To take advantage of this year of opportunity, it is necessary to keep one's focus both internally and externally.
Feng Shui for the home would include a water element placed in the Northeast corner of the house. This invites the Energy of the Water Tiger in and allows the Flow of this year to be auspicious for you. A water element might be a small water fountain or even a white noise machine which usually has different sound settings for ocean or brook. We will change into the year of the Rabbit in Jan. 22, 2023.
