“I’ve been through a lot to get here — but I’m finally free.” – Norma Mejia 💙

After getting a lap band in 2015 and seeing little to no results, Norma’s journey took a heartbreaking turn. A failed revision attempt in 2020 left her in excruciating pain — and eventually hospitalized with pneumonia, a liver and spleen abscess, and sepsis. She had a PICC line for 6 weeks and feared she’d never find a solution.

But everything changed when her family recommended BMI of Texas.

Despite her trauma, Norma said BMI of Texas made her feel truly safe. In September 2020, she underwent a sleeve gastrectomy — and had a remarkable recovery.

Today, Norma is down nearly 100 pounds, no longer needs a CPAP, and is no longer pre-diabetic. She went from 230 lbs to 135 lbs — and has kept it off for years.

“I’m very, very happy,” she says. “I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”
