🌟 Shining a Light on Diabetes Awareness at UTSA! 🌟

We had the privilege of joining Dr. Kirsten Gardner and her amazing team at UTSA during Medical Humanities, Honors College, and Faculty Appreciation Week! 🎉 Dr. Treviño and the SAHRC team were excited to engage with the students, exploring the state of diabetes in San Antonio in a fun and interactive way.

Through an incredible theatrical play, the students took center stage, bringing the physiological and pathological states of diabetes to life! Their energy, enthusiasm, and bright minds made the experience unforgettable as they dove deep into the pathophysiology of diabetes and learned through this hands-on, educational enactment.

It was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate, learn, and most importantly, make a lasting impact with these brilliant students! 🙌✨

🌟 Honoring Legacy, Continuing the Fight 🌟

Dr. Treviño was recently honored in Progresso, Coahuila, for the incredible contributions of his ancestors in the Mexican Revolution. His paternal great-grandfather, Pedro, and grandfather, Antonio, along with his maternal great-grandfather, Hilario, fought valiantly for justice—sacrificing their lives for a cause that still echoes through the generations.

This legacy of resilience and courage is deeply ingrained in Dr. Treviño’s commitment to the community. As the founder of the Social and Health Research Center in downtown San Antonio, he continues the fight for justice, advocating for better healthcare and raising awareness about the urgent issues of obesity and diabetes in our communities.

We honor the past, and we fight for the future. 💪💙
