About 70 clinicians statewide joined our free CPAN webinar on “Depression: What Every P*P Should Know.” One case study featured a teen referred to primary care with a 3-month depressed mood, loss of interest, sleep and appetite changes, and academic decline. Do you wonder what your next steps would be?

Even seasoned clinicians can wrestle with selecting the best protocol when symptoms suggest moderate to severe depression. Screening is a great start—the patient’s PHQ-9 was 21—and interpreting results, creating safety plans, and connecting to therapy or managing medication can be complex.

That’s where CPAN’s experts can help you. Call for free, real-time consultation and guidance on next steps after a positive screen. Or join one of our upcoming free CME sessions to learn more about mental health in the primary care setting.

A recent study shows that youth with mental health conditions report spending significantly more time on social media than youth without mental health conditions.

The research published in Nature Human Behavior also found youth with internalizing conditions like depression and anxiety feel more negative impacts and a lack of control over their social media use than youth with externalizing conditions like ADHD or conduct disorder: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-025-02134-4

Findings like these can inform clinical practice guidelines for patient consultations and interventions. Get help with mental health screening and diagnosis from CPAN, and discuss ways youth and families can mitigate social media harms and boost important protective factors offline. No call is too small, we take them all:
