Grief Connections
Who Does Grief Serve? -
The answer to that question is ‘you;’ grief only serves the one who is grieving. It enhances your perceptions, increases your understanding of the world around you, and it will, in the end, make you a better, stronger person – if you wish it to do so.
This is not to say that some people don’t end up bitter, instead of better. That describes my father’s reaction to loss; his anger and resentment just eats at him – making him a miserable person to be around. Don’t let that happen to you.
Activity of the Day
Take a moment and write in your journal an answer to this question: “Who do I want to be in a year’s time?” And then set about to become that wonderful, insightful, witty, wise person. All beings in your world will benefit from your experiences, and your new persona.
Quotation of the Day
“Grief drives men into habits of serious reflection, sharpens the understanding, and softens the heart.” ~ John Adams
