The main Medicare enrollment period is the initial Enrollment period (IEP), a 7-month window starting 3 months before your 65th birthday, the month of your birthday and three months after. Keep in mind there are some people who don’t have to take Medicare when turning 65 if your employer is providing you with health coverage that’s considered credible coverage to Medicare’s standards.
