Markay is a dedicated professional with 10 years of experience in Internal Medicine at The PREOP Center San Antonio. Inspired by her childhood PA, Callie Ramirez, Markay is driven by a passion to serve others.

Her patient care philosophy revolves around providing compassionate and individualized care. Markay loves building bonds with her patients and empowering them through education for a successful journey.

Beyond the clinic, Markay enjoys family time with her husband, John, and daughter, Adaline. Crafting and beach days are among her favorite hobbies.

Pre-operative assessments, besides providing safety to patients undergoing surgery, are an excellent opportunity for patients to gather more information about their state of health and to obtain recommendations to improve their quality of life. Although the surgeon and evaluating physicians work together to determine if a patient is fit for surgery, after everything is assessed and possible risks are outlined and discussed, the final decision to proceed with surgery belongs to the surgeon and the patient.

Medical Assistant | The PREOP Center

When Ryleigh Wilson steps into The PREOP Center, she brings heart and purpose to every interaction.

“I love working as a medical assistant because it allows me to make a real difference in patients’ lives every day,” Ryleigh shares. “Being the first point of contact means I get to welcome patients, help them feel comfortable, and make sure they feel heard.”

Her time with the clinic—during winter and summer breaks—has made a lasting impact, both on patients and her teammates. “The team here is amazing. Everyone is so uplifting and works together to give each patient the best care possible.”

“Knowing that my work directly impacts someone’s health and well-being is what motivates me every day,” she says. “Patients trust us in vulnerable moments, and I don’t take that lightly.”

She believes the difference in care at The PREOP Center comes down to empathy and connection. “We’re often the first and last face patients see. It’s not just about clinical tasks—it’s about listening, reassuring, and treating every patient with dignity and compassion.”

While Ryleigh is early in her career, she’s already had meaningful moments. “When someone tells me their blood draw was the best they’ve had—that it didn’t hurt and was over quickly—it makes me so proud.”
