Summer heat and humidity are not kind to hearing aids. Hereโs how to keep your devices in top shape all summer long:
KEEP THEM DRY: Sweat and moisture can damage internal components. Use a hearing aid dehumidifier overnight or wipe them down daily with a dry, soft cloth.
WATCH THE HEAT: Never leave your hearing aids in a hot car or in direct sunlight. High temps can warp the plastic or damage batteries.
USE SWEAT-PROOF COVERS: If youโre active outdoors, consider using hearing aid sleeves or sweatbands to protect from dripping perspiration.
HANDLE SUNSCREEN WITH CARE: Apply sunscreen first, wash your hands, and then put in your hearing aids. Oils and lotions can clog microphones and tubing.
PACK SMART FOR TRAVEL: Bring extra batteries, a cleaning kit, and a small case to keep your hearing aids safe on the go.
