Last week our team enjoyed presenting about the Donate Life, Gift of Sight mission to the E.O.L. senior residents social club at The Towers on Park Lane in San Antonio…our team member, Casandra, presented and recently celebrated 5 years with our organization. She said it was “the most interactive group she’s ever presented to!”….Remember, there is no age limit to register your decision to help save and heal lives ✍️

Celebrating National Donor Day ❤️with a touching message 💙💚

We’re proud to share some meaningful news.

Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen was named the top hospital in the Rio Grande Valley Division of the San Antonio Eye Bank in 2025, with 45 donor heroes who gave the gift of sight.

Because of their generosity — and the compassionate care of our incredible leadership, physicians, and nursing teams — lives were changed in powerful ways. Across South Texas, more than 1,005 donor heroes helped restore sight through eye and cornea donation last year, supporting transplants, research, and education.

In recognition of National Donor Day (February 14), we honor the 45 cornea donor heroes from 2025 and all donor heroes and their families who have made the gift of sight possible over the years.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership with the San Antonio Eye Bank and for the opportunity to serve our community by honoring the gift of donation and supporting patients in need of sight-restoring transplants.

Did You Know? 👀💙

Since 2015, San Antonio Eye Bank has had a satellite office in Harlingen, Texas, proudly serving the Rio Grande Valley.

Our team proudly supports 32 hospital partners across the Rio Grande Valley and provides compassionate support and education to donor families throughout our community.

Being local allows us to build strong relationships with our hospital partners, provide timely education to healthcare teams, and walk alongside donor families with care and gratitude — honoring the legacy of our donor heroes while helping restore sight in the RGV.

If you’d like more information about eye and cornea donation or would like to request education or resources for your hospital, school, or organization, please contact our RGV Hospital & Community Relations Coordinator: Candie Zavala, 📧 czavala@saeyebank.org

Supporters are warmly encouraged to join us in celebrating National Donor Day - February 14 đź’•

The observance was started in 1988 by the Saturn Corporation and its partner, the United Auto Workers, and is supported by the U.S. Department of HHS.

By educating and sharing the Donate Life message, we can each take small steps every day to help save and heal more lives, and honor the donor’s legacy of generosity and compassion.

A fun way to join in celebrating is by playing our National Donor Day Kahoot! Trivia Quiz. Tease your brain on trivia focused on love and organ, eye and tissue donation.

Families in the RGV are invited to attend a special Meet & Greet on February 28th đź’ť
