Thank you to our guests from the San Antonio and Bexar healthcare community who came out Thursday night as we hosted a Brain Injury Awareness Month event and highlighted our Joint Commission-certified Brain Injury Rehabilitation program. We are the city's only long-term acute care hospital with that certification.

Pneumonia remains one of the leading causes of illness and hospitalization worldwide, yet with early detection and proper treatment, most cases are preventable and treatable.

Common symptoms include:
- Shortness of breath
- Fever or chills
- Fatigue and weakness

This World Pneumonia Day, take time to protect your health by staying up to date on your vaccines, practicing good hand hygiene, avoiding smoking and exposure to pollutants, and seeking medical care as soon as possible if symptoms occur.

Kindred Hospitals specialize in treating complex respiratory conditions, particularly in ventilator weaning. Pulmonologists and respiratory therapists work together to help even the most complex patients breathe on their own again. Our rehabilitation teams also help patients - including those on ventilation - start moving as early and as much as possible. Most of our hospitals have earned Joint Commission certification in Respiratory Failure, showing our commitment to delivering excellent respiratory care.
