Great things happen when we come together! This month, University Health team members are participating in the Communities In Schools of San Antonio Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive. We are excited to help provide more than 140 schools across San Antonio with the supplies students need to succeed.

A special delivery of comfort! Our partners at Turner Texas stopped by with 30 Build-A-Bear friends for University Health’s pediatric patients. We’re so grateful for Turner Construction and their continued support of our mission!

Last week, our team had the opportunity to tour Toyota Texas’ expansive manufacturing facility on San Antonio’s South Side.

This was a great opportunity to see how one of our partners gets the job done, with a focus on quality and safety. Every Toyota USA team member plays an integral part in achieving a shared mission, and we are inspired to take what we learned and apply it to our own work, ensuring our neighbors across Bexar County have access to the highest quality care. Special thanks to James Moore, Melinda Louden and Stephanie Garcia for being gracious hosts and providing insight on Toyota’s culture and the incredible work they do.

Our friends at Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation are long-time University Health Foundation donors! With their support over the last five years, we have been able to provide more than 2,560 underserved women in our community with breast cancer screenings.

Yesterday, leaders and team members at University Health showed up at the University Health Breast Center to welcome and receive another donation from Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation that will expand their support to include women who need diagnostics following a positive mammogram. Thank you ABCF for your commitment to our work.

We are humbled by the incredible outpouring of generosity from corporations and individuals throughout Texas and across the country. Last week, San Antonio hosted the AIM Health R&D Summit, with an incredible gathering of military, academic and health care leaders dedicated to innovation and discovery. We were honored to share some of the innovative initiatives the Foundation is working on!

If you have visited University Health Women’s & Children’s Hospital lately, you may have noticed a beautiful piano in the Valero Atrium. The piano, named “Sol,” was donated by Vangie, a former University Health team member and a firm believer in the power of art in medicine.

Because of this generous gift, patients, visitors and staff are treated to soothing melodies that ease stress often felt during busy days in the hospital.
