Why is your trainer or nutritionist giving you white rice ?
Dieticians, nutritionist, and trainers are often putting their clients on diets that consists of white rice. Is it healthy????
Understanding the procedure of what rice goes through during its processing once it’s been structurally changed to white is catastrophic. Not to mention it’s chemically digested differently as it goes through the gastrointestinal tract. What used to be a grain has now been stripped from its molecular integrity and in a form of a polysaccharide to a simple sugar and rejected into the bloodstream increasing blood glucose. Meaning once it hits the small intestine (duodenum), pancreas can’t produce insulin fast enough to absorb and it is rejected it into the bloodstream. This is because the bran, husk, and germ are stripped during this process. Which is the reason rice goes from grain to “simplistic sugar” which in turn increases insulin levels.
Now here’s the rebuttal from a dietician or nutritionist. Since rice is arsenic, processing and stripping the hull to through the germ will make the rice less toxic. Hmmm, let’s see if that’s true… the bran (hemicellulose, lignins), husk (cellulose) and germ (most nutritional aspect containing phytochemicals, phytoestrogens, trace elements, minerals, vitamins, etc). There are several vitamins, trace elements, etc that inhibit arsenic compounds coursing through the anatomy.
Brown rice has two forms of vitamin E which are tocopherols which are α, β, γ and δ forms and tocotrienols which are α, β, γ and δ forms. The function of vitamin E is antioxidant activity, maintenance of membrane integrity, DNA repair, immune support and metabolic processes protect against arsenic properties. Another protective device for arsenic elements is selenium, which brown rice carries 19 mcg of which is 27 percent of your daily value! So don’t tell me the white rice is a healthy option. At no point is white rice healthier than brown.
Since stripping molecular structure, white rice now holds ~ 22 percent of its nutritional value which most of the nutrients then goes to stored fat (~46 percent) and waste ( ~32 percent). Based off an average biodegradability score that number is down to 12 percent. This is to allow the food source in your stomach to turned into chyme (clumpy acidic fluid) to be delegated through the gastrointestinal tract with gastrointestinal secretions, pancreatic secretions, intrinsic factor, absorbed through microvilli for the uptake of glucose metabolism. For the nutrients to go properly to glycogen (carbohydrates in the muscle) it must be a process. The matrix of the mitochondria is a catalyst for synchronization of organic molecules, so most nutraceuticals are needed to be in its original form to avoid rejection. Like I said it’s a process of delegation to work correctly.
Most will ask.. "What about white rice for people with digestive issues such as Crones disease, IBS, diverticulitis, etc??" Well, pizza, cookies, pastries, cake, candy absorb easy too, but if you want to eat healthy find another option like fruit, kefir, ginger, etc. Its not hard to eliminate bad food and white rice is one them. Not sure why I see white rice on so many diet plans, but it really needs to change. At no point in time is white rice healthier than brown rice. My two cents.
