Co-owner and Registered Play Therapist, Brittany, attended the Texas Association of Play Therapy ( ) Conference over the weekend in Corpus Christi. The theme of the conference was “The Healing Magic of Play”. They dove into the neuroscience behind the transformative power of play!

Brittany shares a snapshot of what she’s brining back to The Vine to help kids learn and heal!

So many clients ask us what therapists
REALLY mean when we say “you got to put in the work” or “ until you do the work, your life will stay they same.” Here’s what “doing the work” can actually look like:

Until you choose to stop giving your power away to others... and instead take control of what’s yours to control...... nothing changes.

You have ZERO control around the behaviors of others, how they choose to show up for you or don’t, how they treat you, how they handle conflict, etc.

What you do have control over is YOUR behaviors and choices... this includes, healing from your past, addressing your less-than-ideal behaviors, putting in the necessary work to show up better for yourself and your loved ones, and even making the decision to remove yourself from a relationship or situation that is no longer good for you.

Thank you to San Antonio Association of Relational Therapists (SAART) for the opportunity to present “Integrating Faith into the Counseling Room” by our own Brittany Christiansen, LPC-S, RPT, owner of The Vine.

Every now and then, we get to share with our colleagues and community about the aspects of mental health that we LOVE 🫶 This group of colleagues are super special since our other owner, Annie Viers, has led this organization as president for the last 3 years.

🔥 What we can learn from boredom:

1. You’ve got to understand the brain benefit…
Constant stimulation is desensitising your dopamine receptors. This literally makes life feel less enjoyable. We can be very motivated to go towards boredom so life itself feels more fun.

2. Wait for the boredom barrier ?.
At 15 minutes into something boring, like driving in silence or walking in the quiet, your stressful fast thoughts will settle. It’s important to just have patience. Peace is coming.

3. A better future is found in the boredom
Very creative moments happen in boredom and quiet.

In honor of Stress Awareness Month, our blog post breaks down the impacts of stress and how to manage it. Think you already know?!? 🤔 Read and find out!

Stress is not inherently bad. In short bursts, it helps us stay alert, focused, and motivated. But when stress becomes chronic, it can take a significant toll on both our physical health and emotional well-being.

Most couples focus on communication skills, but emotional safety is what makes those skills actually work.

It's the feeling that you can be your full self, honest, vulnerable, and imperfect, and still feel accepted and supported.

Without it, even small conversations can feel tense or risky. You hesitate to speak up. You walk on eggshells just to keep the peace.

But when emotional safety is strong, something shifts. You can share your real feelings without fear. You can disagree without it turning into disconnection.
