This month, our community gathered for a special (and delightfully spooky!) edition of "Nightcaps & Short Stories" in the Bistro. ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽค

Residents sipped cocktails while sharing ghost tales, eerie encounters, and spine-tingling stories from their own lives. It was a frightfully good time! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽƒ

Please join us in congratulating our October Employee of the Month, Oretha Wallace! ๐ŸŽ‰โค๏ธ

Oretha has been a dedicated Nurse Aide at DeMatel House for three years and truly embodies what it means to be an exceptional caregiver. Her calm presence and strong advocacy for her residentsโ€™ needs demonstrate her commitment to providing dignified, person-centered care. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure residentsโ€™ comfort and well-being, often anticipating their needs before they are even expressed.

Thank you, Oretha, for living our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those we serve! Weโ€™re so grateful for your hard work and dedication. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

Kudos to Sisters Care Administrator, Jennifer Openshaw O'Brien, who presented at "Caring for the Caregiver: How Nonprofits Can Better Support These Unsung Heroes" earlier this month! โค

Jennifer wonderfully represented The Village and Alamo Caregiver Support Coalition (ACSC) and shared great insights on how to give caregivers the recognition, resources, and support they deserve. Way to go, Jennifer! ๐Ÿ‘

Wurst behavior encouraged - it's Oktoberfest! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿฅจ

Our Village went all out for this month's German themed dinner. There were soft pretzels with beer cheese, schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerkraut, red cabbage, warm potato salad โ€” and of course, German chocolate cake to top it all off. The beer and glรผhwein were flowing, and the polka music had everyone up and dancing. PROST! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿช—๐ŸŽถ

This month, our Village community is proud to recognize caregiver, Socorro Ytuarte, as she celebrates a remarkable 40 YEARS with The Village at Incarnate Word! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐ŸŽ‰

Sisters Care Administrator, Jennifer, and Alternate Administrator, Mary, were thrilled to surprise Socorro earlier this week for her anniversary ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽˆ This achievement is truly extraordinary. For those who know our history, The Village is 37 years oldโ€”meaning Socorro has been with us since before The Village even officially existed! She started working in the CCVI Motherhouse kitchen on October 11, 1985. When The Village opened its doors, Socorro transitioned into the dietary department, and later moved to Sisters Care In-Home Care as a caregiver.

Socorroโ€™s unwavering dedication to our mission, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, and everyone she serves is a powerful reflection of her kindness, character, and heart. Socorro, we are so grateful for all you do, and we are honored to celebrate you! Thank you for your many years of incredible service. โค๐Ÿ™
