A big thank you to resident Cisi and her daughter Pam for hosting an incredible presentation last week in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word!

Cisi and Pam are nationally renowned experts in paint and art restoration, with decades of experience restoring historic landmarks across the country — including the Alamo and our very own Chapel of the Incarnate Word. Pam led a captivating presentation about their restoration work in the chapel during its renovation in the early 2000s.

We were fascinated to learn about the rich symbolism within the chapel, the intricate gold leaf detailing, and the craftsmanship that brings its beauty to life.

Meet the Cast of "Antique People"! 🎭

We’re thrilled to introduce the incredible cast bringing "Antique People" to life this Thursday at 6 PM in CHRISTUS Heritage Hall! Written by Rachelle Neuman and directed by Dr. Rene Ornes, this original play is a heartfelt and humorous celebration of life and aging.

The Village Broadway Players have poured their time, talent, and heart into this production, and we can’t wait for you to see them shine! 🌟

The cast of "Antique People" (listed in alphabetical order) includes: Bill, Charlie, Fernando, Harriet, Sr. Josetta, Nelly, Patsy (not pictured), Ruth, and Valerie (not pictured). Come cheer on this talented group and enjoy a night of laughter, storytelling, and community spirit! 😄👏

Yesterday, our staff surprised our incredible resident Bea for her 109th birthday! 💐🧁💌

Bea received flowers, cupcakes, and an official Certificate of Congratulations from the City of San Antonio, signed by Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones — because turning 109 definitely deserves official recognition! 🏅

Bea is the definition of aging well and inspires everyone here at The Village with her wisdom, warmth, and joyful spirit. We are so lucky to have her as part of our community! 💙

Congratulations to our July Employee of the Month, Coco Johnson! 🥳 Coco is an LVN Charge Nurse in DeMatel House and has been a dedicated member of The Village team for 4 years.

Her commitment to her work and to caring for our residents is truly exceptional. Coco communicates promptly with staff and leadership about concerns, and she takes initiative when she sees opportunities to improve care. 💙 A fellow staff member shared, “Coco has a very kind and knowledgeable disposition. She patiently tends to residents and families.”

Shoutout to Chef Frank and his crew for firing up a next-level BBQ dinner that we're still dreaming about! 🔥🍗

The menu included brisket tacos, smoked BBQ chicken, creamy mac & cheese, savory green beans, crispy corn ribs, juicy sausage links, and yes... a BBQ sauce fountain to top it all off! 🙌😋

Beatrice & Helen are turning 103, so we threw them a party as legendary as they are! 🎉🎂✨

We felt honored to celebrate this incredible milestone with these two wonderful ladies and their families. And since Helen is a lifelong wrestling fan, a few of our amazing team members from Select Rehabilitation made her day extra special by showing up as none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan! 💪😂

It was an unforgettable party filled with love, laughter, and a lot of fun. Happy birthday, Helen & Beatrice! 🥳

Join us on Thursday, July 31 at 6 PM for the latest production by The Village Broadway Players: "Antique People". 🎭 Directed by Dr. Rene Ornes, "Antique People" will be brought to life by The Village Broadway Players — a talented troupe of residents and staff from The Village at Incarnate Word. This original play is written by Rachelle Neuman in Reader’s Theatre style, featuring minimal staging and props to allow the story and performances to shine.
