Methodist Healthcare System had an amazing time connecting with aspiring medical professionals at the Students of Service - SOS Teen Medical Academy. During this week-long program, students explored a wide range of healthcare careers through hands-on experiences.

Our SIM lab and Trauma teams offered interactive training sessions using advanced equipment, mannequins, 3-D printed bones, and training arms to teach essential medical procedures and lifesaving skills.

We also hosted a career panel where our dedicated staff shared insights into various medical professions and answered students’ questions about entering the healthcare field. We’re proud to support the next generation of healthcare heroes!

Congratulations to Hendrix Montejano, a recipient of the Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Texas Tech University as a biochemistry and pre-pharmacy major. Since 2019, the HCA Healthcare Foundation has awarded more than $15 million in scholarships for dependents of employees.

Her father, Bernabe, an emergency room nurse at Methodist Hospital | Westover Hills, is proud of Hendrix, the oldest of four sisters.

“She has worked so hard during high school to be in the top 10% of her class,” he says. “She even changed her curriculum her senior year to become a nationally certified pharmacy tech. And for the HCA Healthcare Foundation to recognize her for her hard work and dedication to her studies is truly amazing.”

Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak hosted a groundbreaking ceremony with colleagues and members of the community for its $104 million vertical expansion and renovation, aimed at meeting the growing healthcare needs of the community. The two-story expansion will add ICU and Med Tele beds, while also expanding key support areas including central supply, the lab, and parking. As part of the project, the hospital kitchen will also undergo a comprehensive renovation.

“This vertical expansion marks a new chapter in our commitment to serving humanity to honor God,” said CEO Michael Beaver. “By adding two new floors, we’re not just increasing capacity, but creating more room for healing and hope when families need us most. Our growth will allow us to expand the nationally recognized healthcare services that we provide for families in our community, well into the future."

Methodist Hospital | Specialty and Transplant celebrated the opening of a new transplant intensive care unit, increasing the hospital's capacity from 20 beds to 34 beds.

The transplant ICU provides unparalleled care to transplant patients with highly specialized needs. This addition allows the hospital to ensure smooth transitions from transplant surgery to recovery, offering a seamless continuum of care, and further reinforcing the hospital’s reputation as a leader in transplant medicine and critical care.

“The opening of our new transplant ICU marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing life-saving care with compassion and excellence.
