Community has always been important to Patrick Klein, a lifelong Fredericksburg resident. He found another instance after falling and suffering a puncture wound and broken bone in his left foot. After a referral to the Wound Care Clinic at Methodist Hospital Hill Country and a long journey of healing, Patrick is thankful for the care and attention given to him by Jetta Eckhardt, a physical therapist at the clinic.

“She’s top notch,” he says. “She knows what she’s doing. The care I’ve received at Methodist Hospital Hill Country’s wound care clinic has made all the difference.”

Methodist Healthcare and the San Antonio Zoo officially launched the Methodist Healthcare Health Walk with a ribbon-cutting celebration!

Health Ambassadors Sean and Claudia Elliott kicked off the first walk alongside students from Will Smith Zoo School, marking the start of a partnership focused on community wellness and family fun.

The mile-long scenic route through the zoo encourages movement, mindfulness, and connection with nature. Families can enjoy a scavenger hunt with a special passport featuring animal facts, with prizes available to children who answer questions along the way.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology team Methodist Hospital Texsan has now performed more than 1,200 left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) procedures — helping reduce stroke risk for patients living with atrial fibrillation (AFib) across South Texas.

During Liver Awareness Month, we honor survivors like Arthur Guzman, 61, whose courage and faith carried him through his transplant journey.

When Arthur, from Austin, was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, doctors told him he only had 10 months to live. But his story didn’t end there. After seven months on the transplant list, he received the call that a liver match had been found.

His transplant at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant gave him a second chance at life. Now, Arthur is grateful for the extra time he has to spend on what matters most – his family and running his own business. “I was given a 50/50 chance to live. God is great, and I’m here today,” says Arthur.

Methodist Healthcare is partnering with members of San Antonio Police Department to host "Crush The Crisis" opioid take back day, November 7th from 9am-12pm. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse and proper disposal of these medications.

Check your medicine cabinets for any unused or expired over-the-counter and prescribed medications, including: oxycodone, hydrocodone, tramadol, codeine and fentanyl to safely dispose of them at any of our drive-thru medication drop-off sites:
