Have you ever made it to the end of a weekend (or another break), and wondered where the time went? When we're used to being busy, it's important that we feel satisfied with our use of free time. One way to do this is to check in with ourselves and ask, "What do I need and want from this time?" "With whom and where do I want to spend it?" "How do I feel right now, and what can I do to feel the way I'd like to feel?"

When we see others hurting or struggling, it is natural for us to offer advice or try to fix the problem. However, the best we can offer may be validation and the question, "how can I help?" When we validate a person's feelings, we let them know they are important, we want to understand them, and we accept them.

Meet Dr. Thompson

I am a psychologist in a group of mental health clinicians. I have a PhD in psychology and have been licensed since 2003. My colleagues and I provide neuropsychological and psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Neuropsychological assessments help people with memory, attention, and learning problems. Psychological assessments are available for pre-surgical evaluations for medical treatments including spinal cord stimulators pain management, bariatric weight loss, and seizure control. My therapy roster is small and is focused on long-term, insight-oriented work. You can learn more about me and my colleagues at www.sa-mh.com

While I do accept insurance for assessment, I am not currently accepting insurance for psychotherapy. If you would like to pay directly for services (out of pocket), I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your goals for therapy and see if we think I could help you.

I share referrals with colleagues in my office in order to provide the best service and shortest wait time. You can call my office phone number to request services from any of the psychologists in the office.
