Happy Earth Day 🌱

Five days ago I planted my first tomato garden, and for 5 days it rained 🍅 (April 17th. New moon in Aries ♈. New Year and New beginnings).

I really enjoyed these rainy days because it gave me pause to spend some time indoors learning about my green babies. I won't go into all of what I learned at this time, but I'll admit I was in tears to learn that all of the heavy fertilizing I was doing in their one month in my garden was a bit too much right now. I was happy to know that less is more, and most of them prefer to dry out.

When I purchased the English Lavander, Munstead, in March, a cold frot unexpectedly came through, and it didn't do so well. BUT, I believe I can save it, so I removed it from the same pot as the thirsty tropical lemongrass, and other (Spanish) Lavander to a clay pot filled with Cactus soil instead of the moisture rich soil it was in. Let's see how it goes 🌱🤲🏾🙏🏾

Meanwhile, as I was shopping for clay pots and cactus soil at HEB, I noticed their clearance in the garden area, so I decided it was worth a try to save some Zinnias, too 🙂. I might as well take home this pot of Parsley while I'm at it 😊.

Yep. I love being a new Gardening-Mom 💚🤎💚. Not only am I learning about the plant species, I get to learn about the other species/insects that love them as well. 🐛🦋🐝🐌

I woke up feeling refreshed and motivated after an exhaustive Friday installing my tomato garden into their new raised bed.

Sooo, I decided to join a fellow entrepreneur Pennie Owens for their fundraising Block Party. Due to a cold front and rain, the Block Party was a no-go. However, I got to donate some pennies, meet Pennie's family, and say Hi to DJ Ron G, WSAN Radio, as he was packing up.

I am so excited about today! 🪴

Today's mission was to find me some mustard greens 🍃 at 4Js Botanicals, in Helotes, Tx.

First, I discovered that Helotes, TX is Northwest San Antonio, and not Northeast as I had expected. So the drive was quite nostalgic as I was drove through the area of town I lived in 20 years ago.

Second, I was extra excited about my garden visit to 4JsBotanicals because I was meeting my first Black Farmer, and it is extra special for me because Ashley (the owner) has been in the garden all of her life; her calm presence made me feel really good about being a New Gardening Mom, and beginner tomatoe plant grower 🍅. After Ashley put a tomato starter kit together for me, she suggested I go to Rainbow Nursery for some top soil by Landscapers Pride.

My next 2 hours at Rainbow Nursery was spent basking in the land of nature's beauty. I did good to leave there with one fruity-pa-tuity (that's what I'll call her!) plant for me & the pollinators to enjoy , and my bag of recommended topsoil for my first raised bed of tomatoes and their companions 😏🌼🐝🌺🐝🌹🐝🌸🐝💐🐝🌻🐝🏵🐝🌷
