In 2009, Bridget was diagnosed with a lung condition and for over 14 years, she managed her illness until December of 2022, when she ended up in the hospital and on oxygen.
In March of 2023, Bridget was listed for transplant, and 3 months later, she received the gift of new lungs.
The road to full recovery was not an easy one. Before her transplant, her lung disease damaged her heart, and Bridget needed a pacemaker. After the transplant, she went into kidney failure, requiring dialysis for several weeks. But Bridget got through it.
"I had to do it for my boys, my husband, and my family. Of course, for myself as well. The first year was rough, like they said it would be. But I bounced back from every setback. Literally every month. I made it to my one year! And now I’m two years alive, with my second chance at life. With full gratitude and thanks to my donor."
