Innova Recovery is honored to host and celebrate Rex Hausmann on Sept 12 at our 3502 Paesanos Parkway location. Come meet Rex and see some of the most magnificent paintings of this age.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is excited to announce the selection of Rex Hausmann—a celebrated local contemporary artist—as the 2025 Artist-in-Residence, bringing his vibrant creativity and welcoming spirit to the park and its visitors. The Artist-in-Residence program is a national park system-wide program that hosts artists in parks to help connect visitors and tell park stories using art. This year’s program is thanks to the support from our park partner, Mission Heritage Partners.
Contemporary artist Rex Hausmann is a San Antonian, who started his art education at UTSA graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design on scholarship with a BFA in painting (2006) and an MFA in painting (2016). His artist philosophy remains simple “Grow Where You Are Planted” displayed behind Phebe, the bougainvillea, on the front his family buildings at The Hausmann Millworks: A Creative Community in downtown San Antonio. Rex has shown and lectured nationally and internationally, shown work at The Smithsonian in Washington DC, The Institute of Texan Cultures and more.
Rex shared that, "I am most inspired by Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Akira Kurosawa, George Melies, Antoni Gaudi, Tom Sachs, and Daniel Buren. These literary, cinematic and visual artists are all storytellers. This is what interests me. In my world, they would be eating donuts and sipping coffee on a New York fire escape or at Dollar-Hot-Dog night at a San Antonio Missions baseball game. The subjects of discussion would be their favorite books, films, and museum pieces. These conversations are the basis of my art—the synthesis of art and life. My art is colorful, accessible and autobiographical. I try to speak not only the language of the art world but to everyday people as well."
As part of his residency, the park and Hausmann will host open studio times for visitors to stop in and see his art-making process every Sunday from 1-5pm at the Tufa House at Mission San Juan, starting September 21st until late November, and two free public workshops this fall.
