Another fantastic Founder's Council Lecture Luncheon in the books! Today, Texas Biomed's Dr. Larry Schlesinger, Dr. Eusondia Arnett, Dr. Greg Ippolito and Dr. Riti Sharan discussed how the immune system works to protect us from infection and disease. They also highlighted their research into various aspects of the immune system. We always love the opportunity to share how the research at Texas Biomed connects to the health of our community. Thank you Founder's Council for your ongoing support of this important work!

Last week, Texas Biomed and Southwest National Primate Research Center celebrated Biomedical Research Awareness Day - BRAD. BRAD Day offers the opportunity to highlight the critical role lab animals play in advancing human and animal health -- from the development of insulin for diabetes to the high-frequency neonatal ventilator that helps babies born prematurely breathe to a wide range of lifesaving vaccines, antivirals and therapies (just to name a few)! Team members helped make yummy enrichment treats for our primates and expressed their thanks for the animals in our care. We also want to thank the legion of veterinarians and caretakers who work tirelessly to make sure our animals are safe and healthy every day!

It was a full house today at the Texas Biomed Global Health Symposium at the San Antonio Botanical Garden and online with virtual attendees participating from around the world. We kicked the day off with a insightful conversation between Keynote Speaker and former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD and Texas Biomed President & CEO Larry Schlesinger about the future of science and medicine. We had many invigorating discussions and are so grateful to all the panelists, attendees and strategic partners for making it such a fantastic day -- even in the rain -- to focus on global health. Here are a few photos from the main stage today! 🌎
